Square Enix Licenses Unreal Engine 3

As everyone else, Square Enix too is impressed by the Unreal Engine 3, so much that they’re licensing it for their future projects. While Final Fantasy XIII is built using their own, and equally impressive White Engine, the licensing of UE3 might hint that Square Enix is moving towards multi-platform titles, since the UE3 is optimized for all next-gen (we’re still using that term?) platforms.

    Hehe. Good work Epic.

  3. Zac Says:

It’s only the engine.. But we’ll see how unique separate games using the same engine can be when more are released.

  4. Monarky Says:

Yep Anuban Epic has it’s engine on over 30% of games on Consoles and PCs!

Direct Competition? Buy them! hehe Learning from Sony and MS!

But that is about to change with RapidMind Development “Platform” and it’s new Sh language for multicore processors.

All chip makers are working on multicore streaming processors like Nvidia, ATI, and Cell BE. Nvidia and ATI started it all. IBM, Toshiba, and Sony just took it to the CPU first. Intel and AMD are following the leader.

You can forget about proprietary Engines or even prorietary APIs like DX10 and OpenGL dependent games and applications. RapidMind doesn’t know the difference, all engines and APIs are created equal in it’s eyes. Now it will trully revolve around the limits of the hardware which is about to get tapped by everyone on any platform!

Notice Sony PS3 is mentioned, with RapidMind Development Platform being installed with Yellow Dog Linux in the near future.

Even us lowly Homebrew and Modders can use it, it’s so easy. It’s the beginning of the Future, B3yond today and into the Digital Reality Engine of Sony’s Cell BE with RSX Power!

    Sony’s “RSX Reality Synthesizer”!

Power to spare and yet unlocked. NOT just a 7800 core or even a 8800 dual core. RapidMind to explore it’s true features and power like never before.

“The Getaway 3″ so real you will almost be able to touch it. Lifelike 128bit HDR Lighting available only on RSX, leaving 32bit and 64bit to the X360 and it’s Zenos!

Oh man that Getaway video is not real it’s cgi fool. Both Sony and Microsoft make junk. Get a real console! Get Phantom!!!!!! Now you see it, now you don’t it’s da bomb system! and yeh it’s computer plus it can walk your dog and do 360’s and donut too! The first game will be the Final Final Fantasy!
