New Xbox Live Achievement Rules

The very popular and competitive Xbox 360 Achievements have been updated for the first time. Microsoft has updated the Achievement policy, so publishers can from now on add another 250 points to a game, besides the usual 1000 points that every game must contain. The new rules also allow publishers to ship a game with 900 or so points, but the remaining points have to be a part of a free download.
In addition, Xbox Live Arcade titles can have another 50 points from additional content, while a complete Live Arcade game must include 200 points. Now that publishers are aware that these points matter to a lot of people, offering 250 extra points will certainly make it easier for them to sell more content on Live. You can read the rules on the official Gamerscore blog here.
