Speaking to CVG, Unreal Tournament 3 producer Jeff Morris revealed that they plan to ship 30 to 40 maps with UT3, a lot more than any other multiplayer shooter.
“We don’t know the exact number of maps we’ll ship with but we want it to be between 30 and 40 - that’s substantially more than other games in the genre.”
He added that there would also be “spectacular” exclusive content for each console,
“While we want all of the versions to be the same that’s not to say we won’t do exclusive patches for each platform and that would enable us to do some pretty spectacular exclusive content”
Epic is known to support their games very well, continuously releasing new and free content (like the new Gears of War maps recently released). They also show great interest in the PC modding community, ever since the original Unreal was released. It’ll be interesting to see what they can offer after UT3 is released.

1Epic always releases new and free maps, I dbout they’ll ship UT3 with more than 20 maps, then offering the rest after the release as downloads. Gears has 10-12 maps, i’ve played them all for hours and i can’t even name them all. imagine having 40 maps. it’s just too much to comprehend for players. Rather put 10 great maps than 40 crappy ones, and UT is known for only haivng a few really good maps that eveyone plays.

2Considering how many game types UT3 will have 30-40 maps is not hard to imagine. But of course the real fun will come on the PC which has a huge modding community … there will be hundreds of levels coming from the community … and then of course there will be the free stuff Epic will ship later. UT3 is going to be so intense and so much fun that I may have to get it for my PC and my 360.

3I could never get it for the 360, a fast paced multiplayer shooter just doesn’t work on consoels for me. I hate the Halo2 multiplayer scene. Gears of war is ok, R6 Vegas barely makes it because it’s so tactical, but UT3, no chance in hell mate.

6Well then you could mod Anuban! I just think it will be a kick playing each other full cross platform. They’ll have free server only setups just like with UT2k4 and BF2. I’ll run a server as soon as they’re out.
I have close to 40 gigs of mods, maps and extras for UT2k4. Well over two hundred maps. Couldn’t play them all. I will be creating maps and customizing weapons but no mods myself this time. Hope they get it out the door before end of summer. I know the PS3 version is getting close now. But they’ll probably launch them together to co-ordinate servers with the Master Server.
This is Anuban right? Not no fake?

7No fake here. Just a dude waiting for a great game with tons of mods waiting to happen. I think it has a good chance of being done by September. At least that is what I hope.

8Whew! No smiley faces or small minded words like “ur”, so I know it’s you Anuban!
Yeah I think your right, September!
Still no word about keyboard and mouse for either console. But we know it won’t have the editor on either console.
Have you seen the XFPS KB/Mouse setup for X360? Here’s some links of game play in Gears and Lost Planet. In these videos the guy is kicking butt. That would be nice to be able to use these instead of controllers on both consoles. But with that device the X360 holds the advantage.

Hopefully MS lets X360 use them direct. Checked Epic’s site, and nothing posted yet on this! So this would be a good standby tool. ebay for $60 to $80!

9As long as UT has got no keyboard and mouse support on consoles, they can ditch it as far as I care. (except pc ofcourse)
I’m not saying that fpses dont belong on the consoles, but UT’s gameplay is definately made for mouse/keyboard play.
