HMV To Force On You A PSP If You Want A PS3
It appears that Sony have been working with HMV to produce an offer on PS3 pre-orders. The UK HMV website now displays the PS3 available for pre-order, but HMV have teamed up with Sony to provide 5000 consumers with a better chance of getting themselves a PS3 when it hits the UK this March.
Consumers will be bumpred up to the top of the priority list for the PS3 if they get a PSP as well with the bundle, while this does not absolutely confirm them a system, it is heplful knowing the shortages expected on Sony’s new console. This will of course anger consumers who thought the PS3 was expensive enough, as the deal weighs in at a hefty GBP 674.99. Although you get two PSP games in the package, Killzone and Gangs of London.

its not really forcing but its still the wrong way to sell a crap product.

I really love Spony tactics, they just keep on digging their own grave… lolololol!!!
February 4th, 2007 at 11:21 am
Actually, this is a smart move. I think Sony’s getting the hang of good marketing again.
February 4th, 2007 at 12:21 pm
Well its not like anyone is buying the shitty things may as well try and get rid of them

GameGod and Quartecks? First off this move has nothing to do with Sony’s plan as much as with HMV’s putting together one hell of a great Limited Package. They are not forcing you to buy the package.
It’s limited to the first 5000 pre-orders! You get put ahead of everyone else on the Pre-order list with this deal. You get a PSP with 2 premium games and a 4gig Pro Stick with the PS3 Premium 60gig console. That’s a deal! The 4gig sells for a hundred pounds by itself normally. So you are basically getting the games for free. Plus the opportunity to get your stuff first.
What’s wrong with that?
At X360 launches couldn’t get one onless it was in a bundle and you paid full price for everything here and in Europe. PS3 was heavily bundled here. ToysRus selling $1100 bundles. Many other stores as well, with expensive bundles.Again you aren’t forced to buy the package, if you want to wait! Then wait!
But anything Sony does is bad or wrong even if it’s better than anybody else. Even if it’s not them doing it in the first place. You morons can’t help, but criticize them. Even if they gave the freaking stuff away you’d still find something to pick on, even if it doesn’t affect you in any way!
Quit your bitchin if it doesn’t affect you directly. You seem to have no problems with Nintendo selling a piece of jacked up shit bundles in Europe!
Creative marketing you can afford to take a loss on the PS3 so you take the loss on the PSP package instead. Very smart!

This IS bad because they know there’s gonna be shortages, therefore they take advantage of it and try to “sell” some more of the horrible PSPs.
You don’t see Nintendo “bundling” DS consoles with Wii preorders, do you?
That’s because Nintendo doesn’t rip-off it’s customers.

With FF7 Crisis Core and Dracula X Chronicles coming to the PSP… plus getting Killzone Liberation out the door, it might not be such a bad idea to get one to bump you up in priority.
February 4th, 2007 at 3:13 pm
since when was the PSP so crap? it may not have the unique, well, touch screans aren’t actually that new, gameplay as the DS. But it is so much stronger, hardware wise. and the masive screen. you suckers don’t realise that the PSP is the best handheld console EVER, except, maybe, if you lot Cram your 4GHz computers into a suitcase with a moniter and kb & mouse sticking out.
The deal is pretty good. it’s not like you’re gonna lose anything if you don’t get it (except time).
February 4th, 2007 at 5:04 pm
its crap because graphics isn’t everything, never has and never will, unless you’re gullible.
February 4th, 2007 at 5:28 pm
monir! Set you down to a game of Ratchet and Clank. See if you can put it down real soon. NOT! If you are a gamer you would like it!
Unless M$ has you too far brain washed. Which appears to be the case. Prolly about brain dead. More like it!
February 4th, 2007 at 5:58 pm
Monarky, he wasn’t talking about gameplay, but graphics.
February 4th, 2007 at 7:58 pm
microsoft has me brainwashed?…i don’t even have a 360…you spend too much time thinking about company labels than playing the actual game it seems. were you saying ratchet and clank was a good game, or were you being sarcastic?

That’s what I call shafting the loyalists, Sony fans get to pay more if they want a PS3 at launch when probably these same fans already own a PSP, what a reward for supporting your brand… like the price of the PS3 isn’t expensive enough, 840$ in England, now you have to pay more for a system you didn’t ask for… you can twist it the way you want, this is ripping on the fans… Sony loyalists are getting fewer & fewer, with tactics like this one, it will take blind fanatics to follow Sony…

I agree with Monarky the bundles are something retailers do when there is short stock. I remember at xbox 360 launch virgin made you buy 2 games to get one on launch day. There was no opt out option on it.
Challenge ds outsells psp roughly 4 to 1 every week so sadly for sony not everyone agrees with you.
Main prob with psp is lack of decent games. I’ve not charged mine since I finished gta on it. That and umd seems to have flopped as a format. Sony should have learnt with mini disc
Then again hands up who owned three different sony md players lol (hand up)
Ah well we all make mistakes

Ratched it a wicked game. i think that it’s got a creative gameplay and loads of good weapons. Ruined, you should get MPO on your psp. i guess you guys will still be saying PSP is crap when M$ brings out some portable console called something like xbox mini, minibox, minix, xmini,or Xcube that skanks Sony of the PSP concept and is even bigger than the Xbox(1) original controller.
February 5th, 2007 at 8:44 am
MPO?
I’ll look into ratched.
By the way im not a big fan of Microsoft i was just stating the facts. PSP doesnt sell well anymore.
Anyone got the hack to play PS1 games on psp yet? that interests me there were some top games on ps1
February 5th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
Ruined PS1 games are coming to Playstation network. Already many games available. Ratchet is da bomb.
MGS Portable Ops is great.
Gripshift is cross platform PS3,
PSP online racing puzzle.
Kill Zone Liberation is awesome.
New Ratchet and Clank coming soon.
Playing games from your PS3 on the PSP from anywhere in the world via WiFi!
Playing movies and music as well direct from the PS3.
Viewing pictures and using it as a rear view mirror on Formula One!
Two players on MGS4 with the PSP player being Otacon and PS3 being Snake in co-op mode.
Prepare for the future of these games Sony will be bringing out. The combo deal is a limited deal that is giving 2 games for free basically. With the two premium titles at that. Gangs of London and Kill Zone. Graphics are killer we all know that! It’s a beautiful piece of equipment that will have co-op and interactive game play not available between DS and Wii!

When you have Cartaman working for Sony that gives you Monarky… are you the bastard son of Krazy Ken & a dirty PSP, brother of PS3??? You want what you say to be true so bad, despite knowing that Nintendo is going to shaft hard Sony this generation, that’s the reason why you are so desperate & write such fantroll comments… Sony is going nowhere…
February 5th, 2007 at 4:02 pm
forgive me for being so ingorant by disregarding Game God. Where did you hear of the co op mode in MGS4? that would be so cool. I’m a BIG MGS fan, so would you please direct me as to where you found this info?

Well interestingly HMV has pulled this package now
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=157304
I might look into killzone I quite liked the PS2 version I had of it so it might be worth a go. A friend of mine is going to do a software update on my PSP which apparently lets you play PS1 roms so I’ll have to revisit some classics.
The whole movie thing on PSP was a bit of a disappointment for me due to the severe lack of any volume on the console. Tried it once on a flight from the states and couldn’t hear the film over the flight noise.
Monarky Nintendo announced DS / Wii connectivity too its not just a PSP / PS3 thing. No details on it yet though as far as I remember, just something Miyamoto confirmed.
