Since we mentioned the WiiKey modchip, supposedly the smallest and first modchip, a new chip is already on the market, and it’s proven technology. The chip, called CycloWiz, costs only $40 and makes it possible to play Wii/GameCube backup games without problems, although for some reason you cannot play imported or homebrew games. MaxConsole has an in-depth review. You can order the chip here.

Okay, being that this is old news by at least a week or more… still no mention of the first Wii modchip Wiinja which the other two are clones of. And that was hardly an in-depth review by Maxconsole… was more like an infomercial than anything else.

    Bring on the haterade…

There is no nice way to put this so here it goes…

WE HAVE BEEN WARNING ALL OF YOU ABOUT CYCLOWIZ FROM THE BEGINNING!!!

The company behind the chip, Divineo, also sponsors, funds, and hosts the “MaxCuntzl” website. Take a look at the banner ads and news posts there if you need any proof. You’ll note numerous “news” posts that are nothing more than cleverly disguised ads for Divineo products. For example, their “review” of the CycloWiz.

Wiinjaman had problems with PayPal (as many modchip sellers have in the past. “Frozen” accounts are very common) and instead of supporting him and the people who ordered CycloWiz chips from him, Zeus (admin of MaxCuntzl) posts negative things about him on the site and tells people they shouldn’t have ordered from him in the first place. Way to support the people selling your sponsor’s chips, Zeus! I guess “smalltime” orders of only five or six hundred chips don’t qualify for manufacturer support.

We have been telling all along that “Team Cyclops” is just in it for the money. The specs changed as soon as the Wiikey was announced. They obviously tacked on extra features just to compete with the Wiikey. Numerous established sceners have come forward to question the “upgrade” functionality of the chip. Shipments were delayed numerous times.

These people do not support anyone who buy their chips, plain and simple. It obviously doesn’t matter whether you ordered one chip or hundreds. They are a piece of shit company. Why do you think other big modchip shops cancelled all their customers CycloWiz orders and replaced them with Wiikey? It had nothing to do with the “quality” of the chip, it was about the “quality” of customer service. There have been numerous lies and delays not just to the people BUYING the chips but to the shops SELLING them as well.

Do not blame Wiinjaman for falling victim to the shitstorm that is the modchip business. I’ve been around for almost a decade and have seen it all. This is nothing new. I have spoken to him personally and he truly feels terrible about this. CycloWiz is only just now beginning to ship to retailers anyway, after numerous delays on their part. If you ordered from Wiinjaman, you will get your chips. They will just be coming a few days later than expected.

As for Wiinja, the price cut has been expected for a while now. The D2B issue hit all of the modchip manufacturers pretty hard and that is why chips are only now beginning to ship to both shops and regular customers.
