It’s of no surprise that the Xbox 360 DVD drive is one of the noisiest around, but according to Xbox-Scene, Microsoft has begun shipping new consoles with a much quieter drive. The new drive from BenQ, is not only silent, it also loads games smoother and faster, apparently. It’s been in production at some manufacturers since November 2006, and should expand to all manufacturers in a few months. The new drive, coupled with a cooler 65nm based CPU will finally bring the 360 noise down to a decent level.
