Sony: PS3 Expectations Are “Unrealsitic”
February 8th, 2007 by George Lester-Pearson in Business
SCEA president Jack Tretton, stated in an interview with EGM that gamers had “unrealistic” expectations relating to the PS3, due to the success of the PS2 and their last gen leader position. He does however mention that although the Xbox 360 has been out longer and currently has a larger market share, that in the end Sony will win.
“I think we’ve got a better machine. I think we’ve got a better business model, and I think we’re going to win in the long term.”
This is quite different from the usual statements from Sony, where they said the PS3 would be more popular than the the PS2. The PS3 has so far sold around 2 million units (unofficially) and is set for a release in Europe on March 23.
