Sonic In Super Smash Bros. Brawl?

Yojiro Ogawo, the producer behind Sonic & the Secret Rings for the Wii, was talking to UK Official Nintendo Magazine. He was asked whether he would like to see Sonic debut alongside the other Nintendo characters and Solid Snake in the highly anticipated fighter Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He replied with the following:
“In my personal opinion, it would be great to have Sonic in it. But that would really involve Sonic and Nintendo’s management, it’s nothing to do with me!”
Sonic was originally planned to be in Super Smash Bros. Melee, although due to the development time, they finalized the game before they could add him in. Sakurai, the director of Brawl, had said that Hideo Kojima had approached him asking for Solid Snake to be in Brawl. This would mean that all Sega would need to do is talk to Sakurai about it.
Kojima is actually working on the character himself. For some fans, this should’t be the direction the Super Smash Bros. series are taking, as they believe the developers should only concentrate on first party title characters.

so people wouldn’t like the game because of the characters…nerds. i thought SSBM was one of the best games i ever played, i didn’t even know or had played any of the games some of the characters were in.
BUT, i feel putting the mgs guy in is a bit…un-nintendo-ey and wouldn’t really fit in with the other cartoony type characters.

I disagree monir, as you don’t have to play with the ‘un-nintendo-ey’ characters if you don’t want to, there’s always the option to select other opponents.
I think it’s good that Kojima is creating his own character, as it wouldn’t be as authentic if Nintendo did it.

As long as you have the option to completely ignore the new characters and not play against or with them at all, then no can really complain. I think it’s great that they have Snake in it, and he did look kinda cartoony in it, kinda. sonic would fit in, though they would have to quite creative with the moves ‘cos he usually just run aroung all the time. they should’ve had knuckles instead.

personally i think the gameplay is better than tekken, tekken is So crap. i would rather have super smash bros melee on the 63 than any of the new tekkens

how is it tekken for kids? its a hard game, and there is much much more to do and is more fun to play. i do think that a lot of nintendo games are generally for kids but SSB is not a kiddy game. its like saying zelda is just for kids below 10 even though some of the puzzles are so hard that they are puzzling even for adults.

SSB is not a kid game or an adults game. It’s just a good game that anyone can get into. It’s so easy to get into, yet a skilled played can get very skilled. It’s incredibly competitive and fast, I can’t wait for the online feature.

Tekken is total complete and utter wank. It’s button bashing for amateurs, always has been.
In terms of speed and skill 2d beat em-ups have always lead the way. If they must all be 3D these days then Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur etc all shame Tekken.
When i was younger i used to be a massive fighting game fan and played nearly everything that came out. Tekken was utter shit back then and still is, just kids liked it because of the pretty graphics and because it was on the Playstation so had to be l33t

Yeah with Snake in there, no other characters stand a chance. Everyone will want to “The Snake”! Shows the Power of Sony’s characters in all of gaming! Sony Wins because winners will always pick Snake!

Why would anyone want to be anybody else but Snake? Most valuable player in the game.
But it’s still on a funky monkey platform meant for little kiddies like Ruined the rest of pea brained mentality of players buying the Wiibeenshanked console!

Snake’s from Konami Monarky. Oh, and there was a MGS game on the Gamecube - you must have missed it. Therefore Snake isn’t Sony’s, he’s a multi-platform character as much as Sonic is.
Oh and why would someone want to play as “The Snake” if they didn’t like him? Not everyone likes MGS, not everyone even knows what it is, and not everyone will like the Snake Characters style of play in the game.

Having a roser of sonic and his friends would be really great.Just like the roster of poke mon(Pikachu, Pichu, Jigglypuff,And mewtwo). They can create a roster of a sonic team(Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, And Amy). Shadow the hedgehog could be optional. Since the rivilry Between sonic and mario started, Mario and sonic fans waited 15 years to see the two in the same game duking it out.Team Mario Vs. Team sonic. Trust me, alot of people is counting on the blue hedgehog in joining the roster. If Sega is worried about sonic in a only nintendo game the should come up with an idea like adding to the title.(Super Smash Bros Brawl feat. Sonic Team). Kinda catchy, dont cha think!!!!!!!

Reggie, there is a game that is similar to what you’re thinking of. If you go to McLeodGaming.com there is a Super Smash Flash game which contains your desires (although it’s a 2D fighting game, but thats the online compromise). It’s kind of easy compared to the other 2 SSB games, but keeps you occupied for 24 hours.

It doesnt matter if super smash bros brawl does not include any of the other characters listed on other people’s comments as long as the game has sonic the hedgehog,samus aran, and zero-suit samus the game will be ok.

well heres what we know now as of December the 27th, Sonic is in. as is king dedede from kirby, as hes the most recent new character to be named, the creator of mega man was interviewed on saturday and confirmed that as much as hed like it, he hasnt been asked by nintendo to use mega man, so hes out.
heres my guess…..and feel free to blam it, its kind of a stretch, but i say simon belmont, theyve already got konami helpin out and hes a classic character from the original nintendo family and it be real ironic with pit there, we could relive some Capt, N crazyness.
oh and waluigi is confrimed as an assit trophy only, so hes sorta kinda out in the sense of any kind of playability.

oh and from what i can tell Clone characters are out this time. that means no falco, ganondorf,(from what i can tell capt falcon isnt even listed on the confirmed veteran characters and that section doesnt have any spaces left on it, so he wouldnt have any body to clone off of) pichu, dr mario, and marth and roy are out and replaced by ike who has a completely different fighting style and wont play like them. mewtwo seems gone as well, along with mr game and watch ( wont miss him)
