In a recent interview with TeamXbox, BioWare’s Ray Muzyka talked about the progress of their latest RPG, Mass Effect. The game was rumored to include only a dozen or so hours of gameplay, delivering the rest via downloadable content. But that rumor has turned out to be false, as Muzyka confirmed that the main storyline will feature around 40 hours of gameplay time, with additional side-quests running anywhere from 20 to 30 hours.
I think it’s going to be about 40 hours or so for the main story, so it’s going to be a good-sized BioWare RPG just for the core part. Off the beaten path, there’s probably another 20 or 30 hours or so of stuff, or more, depending on how much you do and what order you do it in and all of that.
He added that the game was non-linear, where players will “fly around the universe visiting hundreds of locations”. Mass Effect will be released on May 22, 2007 on the Xbox 360.

170 hours single player= yum. but does it actually take that long? doubt it. tales of symphonia supposedly had 80 hours of gameplay, 50 of those is main story, i completed it on my first try in 30.
whats the new zelda like anyone, is it as long as said?

2I completed Twilight Princess in just over 30 hours, and I didn’t do any side quests. I’ve been playing daily now for a month just doing the side quests, bit by bit. I must’ve spent at least 50 hours on the game, and there are still things explore, albeit only a few.

4Yeah Mass Effect will feature 70Wii Hours of Xsnots playing. That’s why I’ll just wait for it to come to the Sony PS3. They are already talking both Mass Effect and Bio Shock coming to PS3! Along with Saints and the loss of the killer War Devil must have really piled shit in your pants.
Now we PS3 fans get the great news that “Crysis” is not only NOT going to X360, but is a PS3 console exclusive like War Devil!
What next???? hmmmm… well nothing else I want in the X360’s weak game lineup! LOL heeheee ah…ha….ha….ha……

5Mass Effect ain’t coming to the PS3 you brainwashed fanboy, Microsoft is the publisher. Go find another game to “wish” for the PS3.

6Yep this is coming from Bioware via Microsoft Game Studios so there is NO way this game will ever see any time on the PS3. Maybe Bioshock since 2K games is the publisher but never Mass Effect and still so far no concrete confirmation that Crysis will be on the PS3 as well. I am not saying it won’t but I also know that Crytek is working on something for the PS3 that is NOT Crysis and that is where I think the confusion on the net comes from.

8I wouldn’t want it, it’s been tainted by Microselfish. M$ and their rubbish just waiting to be put in the dumpster, once we get some games rolling with CTM! Developers now changing their minds and as time passes “Close To Metal” will be in most all games. RapidMind is changing how we think about programing for all games and applicatons on multiple core processors. Eventually even Microsoft will admit they’ve been beaten.
With Microsoft’s grubby hands on Mass Effect it can never be a great game. Look at their past. Mediocre is the best they can do!
You can mark my words on Crysis for PS3! Notice there has been no denial announced to the claim! CTM and OpenGL could outshine the PC with fewer resources, that M$ themselves can’t touch!

9“I wouldn’t want it, it’s been tainted by Microselfish.”
Proof of your close-mindedness.
Basicly: “I won’t eat it because it has green on the wrapper.”
It doesn’t matter who MAKES the game, Monarky, it matters how GOOD the actual game is.

11There is no difference between console games and PC games except the screen and controls.

12Anyone else think its going to be a bit odd, for them to have that type of graphic and large environment.. vs.. the space on the DVD9.. Look at Gears of War.. only 6 hours of game play.. I don’t see how its going to be more then 12 hours of game play at best.
