New Wii Modchip Enables DVD Playback

There is no shortage of Wii modchips at this point, all claiming to be the best on the market. The newest modchip raises the bar with its promise of DVD playback on the Wii, something Nintendo left out in order to save costs. The creators of the WiiXT modchip claim the chip supports region-free DVD playback on the Wii, in addition to the usual Wii and GameCube backup and homebrew games. It’s just an addition to being a normal mod-chip. Why not add in something else?

Wow the Wii was really fast to crack, at least 360 developers had a year before piracy started hit them.

That’s probably because Wii is based so closely to Gamecube.

what the.. ? that makes no sense considering just 3-4 years ago movies were being released just on DVD. No more “Now available on DVD and VHS” Now it’s just DVD. And for certain studios now HD or Blu.
