It’s not bashing, it’s an observation. I think the site is pointing out the irony, having sony being big winners last gen, and now they’re being outsold by the smaller company with the less powerful console.
Backwards compatibility wont be as good and a Sony spokesperson is recommending EU owners hold onto their PS2s to play old games on
“The backwards compatibility is not going to be as good as the U.S. and Japan models,” a Sony spokesman said.
But its ok Sony says so
“Rather than concentrate on PS2 backwards compatibility, in the future, company resources will be increasingly focused on developing new games and entertainment features exclusively for PS3,” Sony Computer Entertainment said in a statement.
why is the european ps3 not going to be as good as the american and japanese? thats just bullcrap, screwing the europeans even more. thank god the ds has no regions, i can get games for half the price and months eariler than if i waited for the european one. fucking japanese and american companies.
The true reports you’re talking about are way more often about the PS3 not being a big deal… I sent the site a report concerning the pre-sale in EU… Play.com was saying that the number of PS3 pre-sale in EU is the highest number ever… but it wasn’t mentionned in this site news…
It’s this simple. Everyone wants to see the top dog fall. No one likes someone winning too much. People like to see the mighty fall and that’s what they’re doing with Sony. Sony has dominated the last 2 generations of consoles and people are sick of them. It’s like a football dynasty.
When a team wins like 2 Superbowls in a short amount of time everyone likes them and they pick up a bigger fan base. When the team continues to win more superbowls, more people likes them (those are the Sony fanboys and casual gamers) as well as haters (the rest of the gaming industry).
Everyone likes the underdog to win and right now that underdog is Nintendo. People want to see Nintendo win. So that begins to whole Wii propraganda movement and the “DAMN YOU SONY!” feelings. There are a heel of a lot of Steelers, Cowboys, Redskins, Patriots, and 49ers haters out there. Those numbers are the equivalent of Sony haters in the industry. I personally, am starting to get sick of this anit-crusade againts Sony myself.
I’m not sure if that quote is true or not, but if it is that is just plain stupidity on Sony’s part.
There are 100 million or so PS2’s sold, why would a company just want to forget about all those customers who have one so easily?
If you have a PS2 and wanted to get a PS3, wouldn’t you want to trade or sell your PS2 so you could buy games and whatnot for your PS3? Without any decent backwards compatibility you’re basically stuck with your PS2. There are games still coming out for it but seriously, your PS3 will play high-def movies with better graphical games, so besides all your old games your PS2 is collecting dust and becoming a paper weight.
I really hope Sony does give better backwards compatibility support on the PS3, it just pisses me off that they would do that to so many people, plus it just seems to tarnish the PS3 disirability even more.
This one states that they aren’t putting the chip for backwards compatibility in the PS3’s to save money/break even by next year, and that the backwards compatibility will be offered through software emulation instead, which still means fewer PS2 games will be playable.

That’s more the state of the store, and not Japan as a whole.

Giving true reports in this site (and others) regarding PS3 not being a great deal, doesn’t make them to want PS3 to be a failure, do they?
Although I agree, a single picture of a single store doesn’t give too many information regarding the selling situation.
