When Phil Harrison had announced that PS3 owners would be very happy come the Game Developer’s Conference, many fans had speculated different ideas about what the announcement would be about. Kotaku, using an unconfirmed source, has said that there is a possibility of “Playstation Home”, which imitates that of the Xbox Live achievements program, and the Mii feature from the Wii.
Basically, a user will be able to create an avatar that reflects their personality. The character will be housed in a single room, where the person can play games to unlock certain items. It will then be enhanced with a MySpace type of network. Some other features included will be text and voice chat, as well as a webcam integration.
A patent has also been found by a NeoGAF member which summarizes the whole thing. The logo, which can be seen on the right, is also a part of the patent. Although it is still a rumor, everything matches up too well, so you could say that this is the real thing. Read the full patent after the jump.
Update: Rumored summary of Harrison’s full keynote can be found at NeoSeeker.

3Does anyone spell check here anymore? A lot of posts have been filled with typos lately…
And it’s “achievements”, not “acheivements”, Gibran.

5I pointed out some more in other posts. It’s kinda unprofessional, but I guess it’s acceptable (to a certain degree).
