The producer of the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company talks about the new engine they have created, which includes destructible environments. He also mentions a little bit about the single player mode. Worth a watch.

the concept seems really good, especially with how good the gameplay is for battlefield, but the clip they showed sucked balls, i’m starting to dislike when developers show cg to show their point since its basically fake. it would also need a mega ultra monster pc, and probably internet connection for that, need to start saving.

From what I understand their new engine is actually a sub license of the “Cry Engine” from Crytec. Let’s just hope that with EA’s grubby hands on Crytec they don’t destroy them and turn them into a cash cow franchise!

tidles? Does that mean you won’t buy Crysis?

Other game engines are doing the same thing with the sub licensing with custom renamed engines like Epic’s Unreal Engine 3.
