Reggie Fils’aime, president of Nintendo of America, was asked about what he thinks about Apple Inc teaming up with Nintendo.
“We are often compared to Apple, and I certainly view that as complimentary… they are a very innovative company. They’re a company that has a similar mind set that technology is important, but it’s the use and application of the technology that is most important.
Influences of Apple are commonly seen on Nintendo products. Just look at the DS Lite, the thing screams “Mac.” The same can be said about the Wii. Of course, a lot of companies have their eye on Nintendo. Microsoft had originally made an offer to buy Nintendo, but they had declined. Apple is already releasing games on their iPod, whereas analysts predict Apple will release a console of their own. The full interview can be read in PSD format at the Hub.

1I would love it if Apple were to make a console … more opportunities for game developers down the line and since I am in school to do game development the more platforms available to me equals more companies needing qualified game devs. So come on Apple get one ready by the time I graduate in two years.

2lol Anuban. Goodluck there.
But there’ll only be more companies if there’s more demand. Games are costing more and more to develop, so it’s harder for small companies to start up, so unless there’s a huge, huge demand for all types of games, the market will continue to be dominated by the larger companies.
