No Online Third Party Wii Games?

March 5th, 2007 Posted in Business, Multiplayer, Online, Wii

President of SNK, Ben Herman, thinks that Nintendo will not be giving any information regarding enabling online multiplayer support for third party games until 2008. This means that the only true online games will be those developed by Nintendo themselves. It is understandable that they would want the first couple titles to be theirs to claim, but why the wait? They are going to overwhelm themselves with the responsibility of having the only online enabled games.

Nintendo has been treating third party developers and publishers like crap recently, almost like they’re pushing them away. Shouldn’t they be encouraging developers to continue to create titles on their systems, as their previous console, the Gamecube, had terrible support from other developers. The main problem, however, is trying to keep their system on shelves.

Online for Wii is badly set up that I think it would be better to scrap it all together.

^thats going to make them less popular since online things are almost being a necessity for game developers who love to make half a game and sort the rest out in patches. also xbox live proves to be very popular.
