Is this event sponsored by Microsoft as well? No PS3s, PS2s or Wii/Gamecubes? And THREE Xbox 360 games (all good looking though)? No surprise they chose Gears though I think they should have gone with GRAW, R6V or GRAW2 and I think they should have waited for Forza 2 instead of PGR3. Dead or Alive is an awesome fighting game though (and at the moment the only one for the 360).

Anuban, you can’t “wait” for a game for competitive play. PGR3 is a well-known eSports game.

The reason why they left out those consoles is because WCG has always been a PC event, because PC is were all the hardcore gamers/clans are. Its just easier this way, and you get the required numbers for a tournament/competition. I doubt you could name many Gamecube, PS2 or Wii games that have a hardcore following like Star Craft or Counterstrike. So why bother.

Dead or Alive is a good game? Fine. But what fighting game holds a candle to Virtua Fighter 5? Hell even VF4 is better than DOA.
If it is Gaming Olympics and not just a Microsoft Windows Extravaganza, it should include the stuff Penny Arcade Includes. The competitive version of Mario Kart, Smash Bros, VF5.

Plus Xbox has 6 million users now.. that should supply enough for their tourament. How many online players are there for PS2/PS3? Anyone know?

Command and conquer isn’t out yet either. And yes I know all about PGR3 but I just think it doesn’t belong in a racing competition on the level of this event. Forza 2 seems more fitting but that is just my opinion.
DOA4 is a really great game and it is very deep so I think it more than holds a candle to Virtua Fighter 5. But again that is just me. I will still be getting VF5 for the 360 when it comes out anyway but I don’t think it is as fun as DOA4. For one thing the stages aren’t multi-level from what I can tell watching vid clips and the levels are not interactive either like in DOA4. I guess depending on how you like your characters to look VF5 can be said to be graphically superior by just a bit but to me the characters in DOA4 were done pretty well and have a slick look to them.
Still since they have two other 360 games it wouldn’t have killed them to use VF5 on the PS3 as the fighting game but like I said maybe MS has something to do with all this behind closed doors.

“OK, they seriosly need to get more games… like ALOT more!”
Why? So you and a bunch of friends can enter and compete in the Obscure ‘NOBODY’ Gives a Fuck About This Game section?

What does multilevel have anything to do with a good fighting game? VF5 is so much more balanced and masterful than any other 3d fighting game. Have you even played VF? There’s a reason why Japanese Arcades are dominated by VF5.
Two great VF fighters is a wonder to behold. VF is like Bobby Fischer’s chess. DOA is checkers. It doesn’t matter if you have a 360. VF is just a great great game. Hell, Tekken is better than DOA. DOA=easy counters for no reason.

I choose to disagree with you but it’s cool that you have an opinion. DOA4 is a really solid fighting game that is very deep (and extremely fun to play and that is where the multilevel arenas come in … they are just a really fun experience and that is what gaming is really all about … FUN). The reviews I have read still have DOA4 slightly ahead of VF5. I think VF is a good fighting game but imo it is not better than DOA4. It definitely is not as much fun to me and there are others who feel the same but also there are others that like VF5 more. When VF5 comes out for the 360 I will get that as well but it should have online play like DOA4 if it is really going to be a serious competitor. Anyway to each his own I always say but I had to respond since there is no way DOA4 is an easy game that is like checkers. Maybe the old DOA had easy counters but not DOA4. Plus I was saying that VF5 is a good game and that they could have used it on the PS3 for the games. Still DOA4 is a solid choice but they could have mixed it up more.
If you check Game rankings you will see that they are pretty much comparable but DOA4 has 115 reviews vs just 52 for VF5. Plus DOA4 got more 100s 90s and 80s scores than VF5. So it would appear to me that there is a larger amount of people who feel DOA4 is the better fighting game but I know that VF is a deep game … again it comes to a matter of taste (but watching to really good DOA4 players who are masterful at counters and the advanced moves is really amazing) … but my main point … just to make it clear again is that the PS3 could have been used but for some reason they choose only 360 games for the console platform and I just wonder why.
