Xbox Live Hits 6 Million

xboxlivelogo.jpgMicrosoft today announced that Xbox Live has hit 6 million registered members four months ahead of its schedule. Since its launch in November 2002, gamers have spent over 2.3 billion hours on the network playing games with each other; the top title is undoubtedly Halo 2 on which gamers have spent over 710 million hours playing online, with over a half a billion games played.

The network has since then seen a lot of changes, especially with the launch of the Xbox 360. The new console introduced a free version of the network, content packs, voice chatting, video chatting and a variety of other features. However, the biggest addition has been the launch of the Video Marketplace which has been offering HD and SD videos of movies and TV shows – such as South Park – for sale or rent.

Microsoft is hoping that the network will increase further in the future.
