Sex was one of the topics developers talked about at GDC. As per this Joystiq post, making sex games is tough, and not just because of political issues, cultural differences or the ESRB, it’s the collision detection software that’s the main problem.
As it stands, fighting and sex games are quite similar when it comes to animation: all animation is canned. “Single point of contact between two people in games is already difficult enough. If you’re going to have people having sex, there is ultimate contact,” said Simon Strange, a designer on Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters. “How do you support their weight? There are multiple points of contact. That is the difficulty.”
Next-gen is all about interaction and better collision detection. What this holds for sex games is yet to be seen.
