Capcom’s Treasure Island Project Z

March 17th, 2007 by Brian Lockhart in Wii

Capcom has now just announced their first game for the Wii, and according to Chris Kohler, he thinks the company will feel pretty sheepish that it took them this long to support the console. Capcom were the creators of the Capcom Five for the Gamecube, which was hugely overhyped, and quite badly underdelievered. Sure excellent titles like RE4 (later ported) and Viewtiful Joe (later ported) came out. But some of the other five were duds or didn’t make an appearance at all. Given the Wii’s popularity, Capcom could really use another five, and this time actually deliver and see a decent profit.

Their new game, Project Treasure Island Z is a cartoony romp which features lead pirate in training Zack and will naturally support all things Wiimote. Whether Capcom fully returns with some adult titles to the Wii, or feel burnt out from a bad run with the Cube remains to be seen.
