Rumor: External Wii Harddrive?

A Japanese magazine called GameLabo is reporting that an external Wii hard disk drive is in the works. Many online outlets have been speculating that a meeting held by Nintendo executives was held to discuss the possibility of the hardware.

Before the Wii had launched, many consumers thought that the 512MB flash memory would be quite enough, but some users are already finding that the capacity has already been reached, and players have had to resort to SD memory cards. Maybe there should only be a firmware upgrade so that external USB hard drives are connectable; having to buy a seperate utility just for extra virtual console games seems a bit too much.
