Devil May Cry 4 not a PS3 Exclusive

March 19th, 2007 Posted in Action, Business, PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Capcom has revealed in a press release that their upcoming game which was thought to be a PS3 exclusive, Devil May Cry 4, is going to be released on other consoles. The game will also be seeing a simulatenous release on the PC and Xbox 360. This is probably happening due to the sales reports of the hardware. If Sony continues to lose these deals, then they’re in some serious trouble. One key factor that keeps gamers on the PS3 are the games that aren’t coming out on the 360. If Kojima were to suddenly decide that Metal Gear Solid 4 was to head over to the Wii, all hell would break loose.

Well the PS3 sales are picking up… not as much as I thought but they’ll pick up. Alot of my Hardcore XBOX 360 friends were takin by the Home service. Home is getting alot of buzz. Well see when home comes out
    :)

My favorite game of all times is multiplatform . First I got kinda pissed but then I though about it .. Maybe its for the better since it will let people who missed out on this game from fanboyism, the chance to play the best game of alll time my opinion well dmc 1

  3. The Wicker Man Says:

whats the big deal with home? u pay for hair cuts cough real money….. ur spending real money for tvs, furniture, pictures… get a console or pc for games!

  4. Praetorian Says:

Ha. Mark it. MGS WILL be on the 360 sometime in the future. and I am glad that SnONY is not all mighty this time out, it gives the other guys a chance. Now that the 20G version is being discontinued we will see what happens.

  5. ZaVaZ Says:

Home is something different. Home is just another selling point. But a good one. Home wants to open the lines of communication between players, and Sonys Profits X). This thread is not about home its about DMC4, I think that its a good thing that Its going on different consoles and the PC. Im just stating that Home will turn some heads and sell a few more PS3s just because of home. I know people who had no interest in getting a PS3. but when Home was announced they changed their minds and now are saving to get a PS3. All im saying is More numbers for Sony to show off to game companies so that the exclusives will come back. I Bought an XBOX 360 just for DeadRising And that Game Freakin ROCKS!!!

  6. Josh Says:

Sony needs to get with the f*ckin program, and release a scaler for 1080i, or I might just have to buy this game for my 360 (if its a good game at all when it comes out).

  7. Zac Says:

Home = Not a game. I don’t really know where the interest is, it’s just a fancy hub. Like xfire kinda but more built into the games with the awards etc and more graphical/interactive.

Sure it’s a nice feature, but after the initial buzz of setting up your home/whatever you do in it, it’s all down to the games. Games. Games. Games.

  8. Zac Says:

I never denied it’s ability to sell systems.

It’s just not a substitute for a fun game. But then again, it’s not trying to be… A feature is better then no feature.

I say Sony is really worried about breakin even . Now when that happens you can bet your a** they will then start throwin money at more Exclusives. I also find it funny how alot of the Xbots put there foot in they mouth and been quiet lmfao when Home was announced . Then when Dmc was announced to be multiplatform , they were quick to come out of hiding and talk mad sh*t … via the forums . well its good news for the series since it gets more popular . I think Sony hasnt even played their Spades yet . They only put down one Ace , plenty of cards lef

sony is gonna go broke over this for their playstation line up. Look at sega they went broke :\ and sadness the dreamcast was a good system. Overall sony was to worried about the blu ray technology thinking gamers were gonna buy a gaming machine for movies too. Another, it wouldve been cheaper and sold alot more if they didnt lose alot of their key games. One more thing, i dont own either console it might be a ps3 or xbox360 im waiting on the movie format and nfl2k8 to come out. Im one of the rare gamers that realizes that the ps3 or xbox is the cheapiest way out for a hd movie player. Just blu ray sounds so cool!

This is a pretty big loss … First the GTA franchise and now DMC … wow … Sony must be in shock. If MS buys Take Two Sony is really going to be in huge trouble. The only positive news for Sony regarding the PS3 lately is blu-ray. There is even one analyst who is saying that HD-DVD will start to fade during 2008. I don’t know how true that is but one thing is for certain … blu-ray has been outselling HD-DVD lately. But to me it is going to take more than a year for the winner of the format wars to emerge.

  12. Anuban Says:

Actually no one should be surprised at all with this news. Capcom’s Dead Rising and Lost Planet have both done very well on the 360. Given that fact, the installed number of the 360s, the lack of a truly next gen third person action/adventure game (us Xbox gamers have been wanting something like God of War or DMC for a while … NG for the Xbox was good and it was close but we need something for the 360 specifically) and the fact that the software attach rate of the PS3 is low (forget that units are not shipping in the numbers devs expected) and it is easy to see why this has happened.

Even the mighty EA said that they were disappointed with how the PS3 is selling. That translates to we aren’t making money from our PS3 software … and so people should expect other smaller shops to also follow the new model of success in the video game industry … multi-platform development. Everyone’s doing it these days … from Valve to Epic to id Software to Crytek (yes they will eventually port Crysis to other platforms and they are working on a PS3 game). The 360 has lost some exclusive titles as well so the reality is that there is a paradigm shift going on within the industry and that is due to the increase in development cost for these next generation and bleeding edge games. The fact of the matter is it is great for consumers and developers but causes console makers to have to work harder to differentiate their product from the competition … which is in reality a very good thing for the consumers.

  13. greenthumb Says:

well said Anuban exclusives are pretty much gonna be hard to come by this gen . I cant even be mad its not like its exclusive to the 360 its coming out for both. Really I can see why stuff like this happens. The 360 is leading at the moment so that means more copyies sold . That’s like throwing money away which would be dumb as heck. These games cost so much more to make this go round . Capcom seen how well dead rising and lost planet sold .. Well dollars make sense , I can only say enjoy, 360 owners can enjoy what I did . My 3 favorites are Onimusha , God of War , and Devil May Cry

The Multi platform move was inevitable. PC’s have been missing out on console exclusives for too long. The last two years have seen consoles with the edge, because of that exclusivity they’ve held over the PC community in so many ways. Hardware sales have been suffering.

But this will not stop the bleeding of gaming to the living room, from the PC desktop. The expense of upgrading every 6 months to expensive hardware. The inconvenient location and inability to share those games is what will kill PC Gaming.

Sony is not suffering from exclusive game losses!!!
But the Gaming community does gain!
With a game like God of War II, PS2 has indeed proven that it is not only not dead, but can stand against computers costing thousands more! If you’ve played the game, you would know that no PC (no matter the expense of the GPU or hardware) has a game to play, that can match it in it’s Overwhelmingly Spectacular Game Play!

Anuban? Please stop misinforming the rest of the ignorant assholes of America, the supposed land of Freedom and Center of the known Universe! In two words, “It’s Ain’t”!
At least in the gaming Universe. If any country is, it’s Japan!!!! Here’s why!

#1 Sony PS3 is selling and the sales all over Europe, Middle East, Australia, and Southern Asia is proving that world wide that the PS3 will rule the world eventually!
Closer, but closer is never a Winner Make!

#2 Last time I checked not only are most Consoles and games designed and developed in Japan, but per capita, they play more games than in any people in the world! And sales in Japan are reflecting that. Especially with sales of PS3’s in Japan right now. They are completely overtaking the Wii according to recently posted stats.

#3 The loss of exclusives was not only planned for, but compensated for long ago. Sony is doing what MS should have been doing long ago by buying Take Two! And that’s bringing on more in-house development teams to produce games exclusives that will be tomorrow’s headliners. More than MS has even been dreaming of.

Like those that are producing another marvelous exclusive, such as “Little Big Planet”! Or for that matter, the group that brought us “God of War II”, etc. and so on and so forth! All those that have yet to be announced and will certainly be the MGS’s, FFXIII, and “God of War’s” of the future.

#3 Sony has recently been in other news that is probably alot more astounding than mere gaming on a console. What is it? Well if you paid attention to the science community you would know. With our new update, came a unique creation destined for the future of mankind in curing it’s deseases.

I’m talking about FOLDING@HOME. Where in one day PS3’s doubled the computing power accumulated over the last 7 years of it’s existance. That being 150,000 computers online at one time, with just 5,000 PS3’s of computational power.

By Sunday over 20,000 PS3’s around the world online at one time, in a massive FOLD-A-THON, dwarfing the output of all the computers online around the world. For me, being #4 PS3 coming online after the update, it was dramatic to watch the FOLDING Molecule on TV and the Real Earth below, light up with each new PS3 coming online and forming donation teams. It felt great!!!

Does this sell consoles? Probably, but to me the fact that Gamers as a Family were contributing to the posible cure of a family member or even myself someday, meant more to me than beating any game I’ve ever played!!!

Yes, “Devil May Cry” is a Great game, but to me it is no negative counted against the Sony PS3!!! It is instead a positive for the gaming community, that gets to share what once was exclusive to the Playstation Brand!

If Sony Playstation had no games to share, then that would bother me. But the Wealth of game power Sony has brought to the world is Spectacular and no small achievement my any stretch of the imagination.

So ask yourself, would it have been better if Sony under Kutaragi’s guidance had never expressed the desire or intent to bring so much to the gaming world, that no where in it, does a country exist without one in a living room!!!

So in the end, to totally denounce and deplore your logic and reasoning on the demise of Sony Playstation. Let me say this:
“It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over”, Baby!!!! ;)

I was replying to “If we just completely ignored him would he shrivel up and die?”

“beyond 12 since I dont defend some kind of system made for girls and idiots”

Idiot. You’re .. Attacking this console? You really think this about it, and obviously have no intention on buying one.. Why do you care so much about it?

There’s no reason or evidence or LOGIC as to why someone who owns a particular console is an idiot.

“system made for girls” Haha. Oh yeah. It’s made ONLY for girls. Hence it’s pink colour, it’s… Wait. It’s not aimed at girls. It’s aimed at the casual gamer. Do you have a problem with that?

  22. Zac Says:

    Uh what?
