Black is cool but that was the last Xbox and plus the PS3 is black so no thanks. But I will admit that the 120GB and HDMI connectivity are sweet but for $80 more than the premium I don’t know. These prices are getting crazy … $500 and $600 for next gen consoles … I think the Wii is going to continue to do very well. I think alot of 360 buyers are going to feel a bit cheated … I mean going from 20gb to 120gb is huge and introducing HDMI this late is pretty lousy of them. I wonder how much the 120gb hd is going to cost by itself. If it is over $100 then you will hear plenty of people complain but it seems like it will have to be since the 20gb was $100.

  2. ZaVaZ Says:

No Wi-Fi… no way, Wi-Fi is So cheap now. Really, I worked for Linksys (was kool, but no freebies), we wanted to do deals with the 360 but Micro$oft turned us down as well as every other Wi-Fi manufacture. I love the fact that I don’t need any RJ-45s for the wii and ps3. I hate the fact that I have to have a 50ft cable just for the 360. I really don’t wanna spend $80+ bucks on the adapter :( oh well… I guess I’ll have to now. LAME Micro$oft… LAME

  3. Josh Says:

    The adapter is 100 bux.

  4. ZaVaZ Says:

    I know… I buy used. I’m cheap like that X)

  5. Russell W Says:

I don’t care much for the HDMI. I 120gb is nice if you download a lot but I don’t have any plans for that. I am simply holding out for this because it runs cooler. My friend has a premium now and its very loud with the nyko fan and the fan blows really hot air out the back.

  6. Rocky2000 Says:

What’s the “Trusted Sources?” This is complete utter crap, and until I hear it from Microsoft themselves, I’m not going to even read any more of this filth.

Do yourselves a favour and veer away from this dumbass prank.

  7. peachy Says:

Has anyone got any idea when this will hit the uk???
I am dying for this machine. No retailers have any idea, even M$ have not confirmed that it actually exists. And a UK price would be nice. Will it defo’ be quieter, cooler? Are they going to be anymore reliable than existing ones?

  8. Anuban Says:

I don’t know the answer to any of those very good questions. Hopefully MS will make a formal announcement soon as this is getting ridiculous. I just want to know how much the drive alone will be … because that is all I would get at the moment. Although since I do have the HD-DVD the HDMI port would be sweet to hear TruDolby or whatever the HD Dolby standard is called.

  9. greenthumb Says:

Looks alot better then the other 360 , but maybe they shoulda made it a clear green case like the Halo Xbox .. That would a been cooler .. but I like black its a strong color that blends in with your other hardware .

  10. Fullnaruto11 Says:

This Xbox 360 elite sure seems nice =) Don’t really dig the color and the material but the hardware it’s a plus

Like me Id rather go for a PS3 than an Xbox 360 the only problem was that my friend had boughten an xbox 360 and couple of months later his xbox was ruined and did not work anymore…
He returned it to the company and gave him a fixed xbox and a couple of weeks later his xbox was ruined

  12. peachy Says:

100% great idea not putting HD-DVD in the new box (don’t want a betamax situation). Until 1 format wins (B/ray HD-DVD) who minds the add on? Nobody with any sense, I don’t even own any high def movies, and the games don’t need it yet. Needs to be more reliable, sick of hearing breakdown stories. Must have quieter drive, fan etc. Needs to arrive in my living room ASAP, come on Bill, sort it. All I need is a price and expected date.

  13. peachy Says:

For Heavens sake, please stick WI-FI in too, would only cost pennies. Can someone also explain how it will run quieter and cooler????

  14. RussW210 Says:

peachy – more efficient processor meaning that it will utilize energy better so it wont overheat. As for quieter – maybe an improved dvd reader that works faster? My laptop has quiet, normal, and fast settings for the dvd.

  15. Tim Says:

i really don’t get why they didn’t add Wi-Fi, when i first heard news of a new xbox360 i was happy i waited to get one and i love the black color, it will go with the face plates better, also i think that the extra space is nice, i plan on buying all three consoles and i have a wii snd been trying to figure out which one to buy next and this might have answered my question…if i get one in time rumors are there is only going to be 100,000 at first.

  16. xxpretzelxx Says:

i’m going to get it when t first comes out. i missed getting a halo edition xbox. black goes with everything in my room; tv, stereo, vcr, dvd player, and original xbox and the controllers and headset is black… i also have an HDTV and i have found HDMI is nicer than the component cables. i’m all for it.

  17. Monarky Says:

Black is way better, not only does it look better, but it doesn’t look so cheap. I just wish the green light thing or anything GREEN and Ugly, would die or go away like everything else. Granma’s old green kitchen from the 60’s, now that’s ugly. Slime? Who needs the reminder of the old days!!!

Black with Kool Blue lights like my computer would be nice and not only “Cool” looking, but with the new smaller thiner Xenon chip it would match the “Cool” looks with the cooler quieter running machine.

Now on top of that, what I don’t see announced there is that MS will be selling a BluRay add on instead of HD-DVD sealing the fate of that format. BluRay Sales of late have been dwarfing HD-DVD. At least one company that was going to make a combo player has pulled the plug on that. Movies are now the same price, no matter the HD format. PS3 sales put the sales of all add-on players and HD-DVD drives to shame. Instantly crippling the momentum it had gained with an earlier release of HD-DVD.

Numbers in on Euro PS3 Launch! Well let’s just say that in England alone PS3 kicked Xbox 360’s and Wii’s launch to hell and back, in that country alone.
    *******************************************************
I would buy this Xbox 360, but only because of the cooler chip. Otherwise I would just buy a standard new X360 with the new chip and HDMI (when it comes out). Custom skin it (doesn’t affect the warranty)! Buy an aftermarket drive case with a common 2.5″ 180gig (like I did with my PS3, only it goes inside) and keep the 20gig on top or whatever, for in the event I had to return it on waranty.

Custom skins? Here is just one and they are peelable but protect your investment and look nice:

How about designer look? A little more expensive, but that’s the price of fame and nostalgia. Right?

Finally if YOU think HDMI isn’t coming to a standard base model with the 20gig instead of no hard drive, here’s a quote that confirms it:

*** “Microsoft Confirms HDMI Xbox360 on XNA GSE forums
    >> For those who still don’t believe an Xbox360 with HDMI port is coming a Microsoft XNA Framework Developer probably unintentionally confirmed it for you.
To this question asked on the official XNA Game Studio Express forums:
“Will the HDMI output on the revised 360 require any code changes. I am hoping some developers have a beta unit and can answer this question.”
    He answered:
    “No changes required.” ***

sorry to sound like an arse, but the new processor is not confirmed to be in the box. Also, all the techi sites are saying the 65nm chip is delayed until December time…..

  22. Anuban Says:

Well it is official and I have to LAUGH LOUDLY at all the folks who thought this was just another April Fool’s joke. I will probably buy one … although it is expensive and doesn’t go with my external HD-DVD drive … but not for a while. I will probably wait for the White Elites to come out and just buy a cool skin set from somewhere. Hopefully the later Elites will have the 65nm processor. These early Elites do NOT.

  23. m dogg Says:

I agrre with Rocky, this is utter, bull shit. its fricking $479. and what about the people who have the older 360??? I think it is bull shit and there was no point in to making another this soon. I mean, no ones going to buy it unless tyhey are dumbasses. This is a worse offer thatn the freaking PS3! This is terrible. Who would want to go out and buy one of the new ones when they can get another for $400!
    This is bs

  24. Anuban Says:

Some people want HDMI, a black Xbox 360, and a larger hard drive so I guess for them it is going to be worth it. Like I said I will wait for the 65 nm chips and IPTV. Hopefully by then there will be a black HD-DVD player to match this.

  26. Monarky Says:

I found out the big problem with this Elite Xbox 360 besides maybe not having the cooler chip!!!

One thing is I will be pissed if they force HDMI only like Sony did with PS3 for High Definition!

The Color? meh Skin kits are great at changing that and protecting your investment!

But at Game Trailers they discuss the file transfer problems of the new file format used on this 120gig. Files only go one way from your 20gig Hard drive! Besides other anti piracy ploys that will prevent you from having full free use of these hard drives! Read this:

    http://www.gametrailers.com/viewnews.php?id=4327

Now that’s a pisser and makes it better to tell MS to shove that Elite and 120gig Hard Drive up their ass! Better to just use an external hard drive and the file transfer thing I mention above!

Anuban tell me what you think of this news? If it’s just rumour or what???

  27. Anuban Says:

I think that it is lousy of MS to do this but what can be done at this point. I just can’t believe that would screw over the early adopters but it appears that is what is going to happen. I know that I will because now that I think about it I am almost positive that a 4th 360 SKU will arrive in less than 18 months. This one will have built in HD-DVD I am certain.

  28. Jordan Says:

Why doesn’t Microsoft put in the Wi-Fi, it will make a great system even better. Since Microsoft heavily depends on Live as a selling point, they should consider doing this. They might put it in later models. They also should put in the 65 nm chips with the Elites.

I don’t know why people are complaining about the price though! Considering that there is 120 GB of space, I thought it would be a lot more. It might have been better if they put the price down to let’s say…$150?

  29. Monarky Says:

Well Anuban I was looking for the most recent indications that MS would indeed be switching to BluRay. I couldn’t find it anymore. But in a nutshell, BluRay sales just oliterated HD-DVD with PS3 owners buying over 2/3 of the movies.

With Sony owning not only the player market, but the top movie companies. A few companies have already announced plans to halt plans for combo drives.

So look for another reaming with a future announcement! And like Jordan says “Why not put in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth”??? Then at least I could use the same Bluetooth Stereo Headset for my cell phone, computer, PS3 and X360!

Now I’ll have buy a separate Wi-Fi. Unless I run ethernet cable to my Entertainment System!!!

And did you read that link I put in? They will wipe your 20gig clean after the transfer automatically. So all you have will be copy and transfer encoded in their new drive format!!! :(

[...] Microsoft have released the much talked about Xbox 360 Elite [...]

  31. Sheldon Johnson Says:

I think that this new Xbox Elite is a great edition to the Microsoft family, although, your right it would cost next to nothing to add Wi-Fi on a system thats supposed to be sooo how do I say NEXT GENERATION enough with the 50 foot cords already.Another thing,It runs cooler and faster??? THANK GOD!!! My friends have all had overheating problems….That have been graciously repaired free of charge from our buddies at MicroSoft of course.

  32. peachy Says:

Sorry to break this to you Sheldon, but nearly every press release that I have looked at has said that the Elite will NOT include the cooler 65nm chips. So you may encounter that same issues as your friends.

    No Euro release date either

  33. bloodshed Says:

wuts the cooler chips and are they on 360 white

  34. Monarky Says:

    Bloodshed!
The cooler chip is the smaller thinner 65nm processor. Not only is it cooler, but’s it’s cheaper MS to produce. So in theory they will also lower the price eventually!

The other thing is I think they are plannng on eliminating the core model and having what is the Premium now, become the Base model w/ 20gig and 65nm chip.

But until MS actually says the 65nm chip is out, I’d wait to buy any Xbox 360!!!

Peachy is right on that! I haven’t seen any official word on the chip, although it is being made as we speak in Singapore!!!

  35. PleasantDeath Says:

No fair. realeasing 120 gig so late. >_

  36. PleasantDeath Says:

can u transfer ur old mem to the new hardrive? 120 gig so late? im really mad.

  37. peachy Says:

Also, can anyone tell me if Re-volt, a game only released in US on the original box, will come to 360. I used to have it on Dreamcast and it was the most fun ever, hammered mario cart. I have even considered buying another Dreamcast just so I can play it again. M$ did actually produce it for XBox 1, however, it was only available in the US (I think it was given away free with the Live service.

Back to the 65nm chip business, some of the tech sites have given details of the chips being delayed until nearer the end of the year, personally I would wait until then.

  38. dark angel Says:

you know this is stupid im just going to buy the hard drive

  39. Master Skittlez Says:

ill definetly sell my white 360 for this better than ps3 black 360

  40. Aramathea Says:

You people complaining about the price are retarded. Just the REGULAR console had a price tag of $400. Get over your cheap hysterics and spend the extra $79.

  41. Anuban Says:

Using your logic Aramathea I might as well dig a little deeper for an additional 100 bucks on top of that and get a PS3. Maybe you don’t understand by 400 bucks was the breaking point for most people … it doesn’t matter if it was only $50 more … people make budgets and this is over that … if you start applying that “it’s only “X” dollars more argument to everything that you want pretty soon you end up broke and your budget completely out of whack. Hope you can understand that … if not oh well then you just don’t get it.

  42. Anuban Says:

Also if people are going to spend nearly $500 they would like to know if they are getting the 65nm chips and the quieter DVD drive … if not then really what is the point? Might as well wait until those things happen so when they do you won’t feel cheated.

  43. Dark Locust Says:

I dont know the elite is the same thing, exept a different hard drive. So im buying the elite.
IIt doesnt matter to me im still going to have gears.

  44. Siro Says:

Who ever buys the “ELITE” 360 should shoot them selfs in the face with bird feed. Why spend an extra 100 bucks for an HDMI and larger HDD? Oh wait, its still not HD-DVD ready, so lets fork out 200 more dollars. Hm, but i want WI-FI, ill pay an extra 100 bucks for that. Well i have the premium 360 so i need to buy the $180 120 gig HDD, cause i download video’s from the market place that expire after 24 hours, awsome. Geez, how much is this gonna cost me? Lets see… 360 ‘elite’ is $480, HD-DVD $200, ok so far its $680, wireless $100 which is $780 without tax. Or $880 if you buy the HDD seperate.

I hope you realize how retarded you people are. Spending almost a thousand dollars and still not doing half of what the PS3 can do for 600. Yes its almost a thousand dollars cause i didnt add the gold membership fee which you NEED to download stuff. MS is just knowing how dumb people are and know they can rip you off cause youll still buy their crap, “Hey guyz lloks! Its the new new new 360 with a orange light!! OMGZ! IDC, im so glad i waited for this.”

  45. flah Says:

I was just wondering, does the ELITE come with everything that the premium system came with?

  46. HHH Says:

Does the ELITE has the problem of overheating cause i want to buy a ELITE does it overheats or PS3 is better??????
    please tell me??????

  47. James Hyde Says:

HHH: It’s the same console as the original, just with HDMI and black finish. It will fail just as frequent as regular 360s.

  48. HHH Says:

    Thanks for telling me

  49. The Sith Lord Says:

does the elite come with the exact same thing as the premium system i mean like ethernet cable cause i didnt see that in the discription cause i dotn want to look around to find one so does it come with it plz tell me and pls say yes

  50. ghostlymatty Says:

hahah, listen to yall, the elite is perfect mine runs smoother than any other system ive played with, and the only way these disks get scratched is when you move your 360 from being horizontal to vertical with a disk still in it running, and if you play your 360 for six hours straight of course its gonna die on you,,give it breaks in between sessions, the hdmi cable makes a big difference in screen display, battlefield 2 looks magical on my 67 inch hd tv, mine doesnt even get hot at all, but i do keep an extra fan on it just in casem elite is def a must have, but if you really wanna wait the xbox 360 elite falcon is coming out soon,, that will def blow ps3’s out the water—whewwwwwwwwwwww do some research,,, and stop doing the dumb ass towel tricks,, your only melting your system

  51. ghostlymatty Says:

and yes the elite does come with the exact same features as the premium just more room for memory and a quieter running 360, the hdmi cable is also alot less bulkier than the standard 3 cable one,,, i am the king of battlefield 2 and doa4 i welcome all challenges

  52. ghostlymatty Says:

the 360 dont have wiifii wahh wahh wahhh go get you a little kids wii if ya want wi fi teenie bopper leave the big kid systems to the big kids,,go play mario world, hahahhahah dorks

  53. ghostlymatty Says:

and go blog on a ps3 site,, ps3’s suck just because you only have a total of what 20 games all together, if that,,yea maybe if you actually have more games would i even consider getting a whack ass ps3,,till then you little playstation girlies can go somewhere else
