DS Leader of Industry by 2011?

March 21st, 2007 by Gibran Nawaz in Business, Hardware, Nintendo DS, PSP, Portable

David Cole, an analyst from DFC, has said that the leader of the video game industry could in fact be the Nintendo DS by 2011 and be the best selling platform in history.

“Under the right scenario, by 2011 the combined installed base of the DS and PSP could exceed that for the Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360,”

Cole says that the portable gaming market could drive the industry to grow by $10 billion this year. This is a little much to say, since the DS has only sold 40 million worldwide, which is half the amount the PS2 has shipped. But who knows what can happen in four years. Maybe the new redesigned PSP will conquer the entire market?

What good games are there even for the ds. Not trying to bash it, I just want to know why people like it so much.
