Microsoft Invades Euro PS3 Launch

March 23rd, 2007 Posted in Business, Offbeat, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

At the European PS3 launch parties and such, Microsoft had a devious plan under their sleeves. They invaded the line-ups and events by doing random promotional things to get people’s attention off Sony’s system. The list incldues things like texting journalists telling them “The Xbox 360 team wishes you a good night,” going on the rooftops and blowing whistles to make the PS3 public relations guys’ voice unnoticeable, handing out chairs which links to a Microsoft website, and even a boat with a banner with the words “Xbox 360 Loves You.”

These tactics surprisingly worked, as stores have been selling minimal units. But it also helped Sony, because so much coverage was dedicated to the event because of the hilarious propaganda.

    Sya,

There were many of these invasions during multiple launches, including both European and Australian launches. This specific event is covering the European launch.

That’s nicely done, although a waste of time, seeing that no people were interested in the midnight launch…
