The PS3 has now launched worldwide, having recently sneaked into Australia and Europe, sneaked being the operative word, left many stores quite barren. Not barren of PS3’s, because there is certainly enough stock to go around, but barren of patrons.
It appears despite preordering, and all the maddness associated with the PS3 launch in North America, the launch was not so exciting. Heck, the one thing PS3 at least had was a crazy launch. Granted, eBayers won’t be making a buck this time around and Christmas is already long gone, but these may be telling signs of things to come.
According to the Herald, the Myer’s Pitt St store which held the official launch event only contained 40 people, which apparently was a problem for the media who convinced the small crowd to fake cheer for their cameras. You can read the whole article below, Sony fanboys be warned as it is depressing.

1Why are you calling him? He normally does not have anything good to say. He will surely say the same old song, cursing everybody who does not agree with him, and saying (without any thought at all) that 6,000,000 PS3 will be sold shortly.
I miss real PS lovers.

4Why would we care how many people were at the launch, people who have a ps3 are just concerned about playing their damn games, not worrying about what everyone thinks about their console, its not a damn popularity contest.

5True it doesn’t matter at all what other people play, as long as the individual is happy.
Unfortunately, some people don’t understand the difference between fact and opinion.

6Apparently Sony’s going to have a much bigger launch at GO3 next weekend. Hopefully they do better there, there’s gonna be over 50 media companies present :/
