Sony Responds to Elite Announcement

March 27th, 2007 Posted in Business, Hardware, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Microsoft will finally be rolling out the announcement for the Elite tomorrow. Which really means they are effectively putting a stop to the mildly good buzz Sony has been receiving for the Euro launch. Sony just can’t get a break; Wii did the launch better two days after the American Sony launch, and now Microsoft will be launching their revised console just shortly thereafter. Apart from the news that Microsoft will finally stop denying the overtly true rumors, Sony has sent out a nice little press statement. Note that this shouldn’t have surfaced until tomorrow, hence ‘today’ actually applies to tomorrow.

“We think every PlayStation 3 owner should have an ‘elite’ experience, which is why we include an internal hard drive and HDMI output in every PS3 we sell, along with the 50 GB of storage capacity on a high definition Blu-ray disc. Sony has been the strongest advocate of high definition as the future of next-generation gaming. This requires high-definition components, including HDMI output, and large storage devices to deliver and store all that rich and vivid HD content. Microsoft’s announcement today not only legitimizes Sony’s PS3 strategy, it moves us closer to adopting universal standards in the area of high definition gaming that will benefit game developers and ultimately the end user.”

Sony, your wit never ceases to amuse!

I like the idea of having a main console, and then a higher end one that costs more rather than a main console and then a less expensive dumbed down version. Nintendo should roll out their own “Elite” for the more serious gamers.

Oh well, its not like they said anything bad about micro$oft.

What is all this hype about the Elite, shit, it’s only black, nothing special

The black elite is surely going to match my white hd-dvd add-on.

    Yikes!

  5. digitalcrap Says:

Microsoft is getting crapped on by their own fans over the Elite DRM Machine!!! Get a huge hard drive that burns your fellow Xbox 360 fans that just bought a 20gig. Plus if they go to transfer that drive’s contents to the 120gig, they find out they’re 20gig gets wiped and reformated to the new DRM inprisoned 120gig!!!

Plus no small feat to sell the most consoles over two days in gaming history! That’s what Sony has done in the PAL territories!!! To the tune of 620,000 units!!!

Let’s see MS top that or Nintendo for that matter…. heehee..

Fat Chance MS or anybody else will come close for a long time!!!!! LOL

And to really top that off PS3 sales in Japan are kicking butt like it’s never done before with Musou Orochi with over 4 times the next best selling game for DS!!!

Microsoft is now being double teamed and is taking a beating!!! Over 400,000 game units in a week(how many were attached to console sales???)! The sales report for March will be over the top…. BIG TIME!
