PS3 Banned from Prison

April 1st, 2007 Posted in PlayStation 3

It seems that criminals won’t be playing a PS3 any time soon while in jail. UK Home Secretary John Reid has said that the console won’t be allowed in jails due to the Wi-Fi capabilities, which allow communication outside of the prison.

“Advice was issued to all prisons in December 2005 that the Sony PlayStation 3 was barred from the prison estate because of the equipment’s ability to send and receive radio signals,”

Other consoles also have wireless features, including the Wii and Xbox 360, so why aren’t they banned as well? I was not aware that prisons even had hotspots, or even why they have video games in there in the first place.

haha america is awesome! u rape, murder and u still get a decent life in jail… so sad, u make them spend time in the cell by themselves to thinka bout what they did.

Prison should be a place where offenders are given the opportunity to reform and live a normal life outside. If the PS3 isn’t allowed how can they become responsible, mindless consumers. On the other hand if it is allowed, once they get out and realise the high price tag they may just go and steal one :-/

Why does it say the advice was issued in 2005??
Prison sounds like fun if you get the Wii and 360!

Why are my taxes paying for criminals to have better things than me?
