Harmonix reveals Rock Band for 360 and PS3

April 2nd, 2007 by Brian Lockhart in PlayStation 3, Xbox360

We’ve been waiting to see what the next big offering from Harmonix (creators of Guitar Hero) would be. While mildly predictable, it looks like Harmonix is going to ride the success of Guitar Hero by making it bigger and better. This time the game will support four peripheral devices, two guitars, one drum kit and one microphone so you and friends (either online of offline) can create your own Rock Band.

The creators have confirmed the game will be available online so you and your buddies can rock out wherever you are, and will support downloable content. The game is being funded by EA, but Harmonix is closely tied to MTV, so all the songs should come directly from the original artists themselves.

The game is expected to debut this holiday season on both consoles (Wii missing from the list), and more information is sure to come along before that time.
