Another firmware update for the PSP has hit the web, upgrading the software of the portable to v3.03. Alongside technical fixes and additions, this update’s biggest feature is the offer it includes: six months of free Wi-fi access from more than 7000 T-Mobile Hotspot locations across United States. This limited time offer will let users register their PSPs with the service until March 28, 2008, offering the aforesaid free access after which users are offered a ’special rate’ to continue.
The firmware update also adds full resolution video support of up to 720×480 (also 480×272 - the PSP’s native resolution) and thumbnail support. It is now available through Network Update or through the PlayStation website.

3But dude!!!
Access to free WiFi Hotspots is like little better than dial up, with restricted content and insecure connections that are easily hacked. This enables the full WiFi support w/ login access will enable the newer faster 802.11b/g 54mps equipment already there not utilized!!!
Game Anywhere Access will be on, even in pay sites like Airports! Live connect streaming from the Mothership PS3 of all your games and media as well!!!

4But what if you’re at home with a secure wireless router?
As well as “Nintendo and Telstra team up to offer over 1,000 free Wi-Fi Hotspots!”

The psp offers really nothing more wirelessly than the DS does.

5Because PSP offers not just wireless B speed like DS, but WPA the best encrption with full encoded login and 54mps!
DS does none of this! So you couldn’t say sign onto T-Mobile’s WPA WiFi Hotspot’s just like a laptop computer. Most of that freebee stuff is fine for DS because it just plays funky weak ass games comparable to a mobile phone.
PSP has a gorgeous 4.5″ screen with full color display and awesome movie type graphics. While DS has semi fake 3-D, more like N-gage phone graphics. Cartoonish!!!
I paid $39 a year, for unlimited downloads at Blender PSP! All the media you want at broadband speeds. Music, movie’s, TV shows, all current games, surf the web, watch YouTube,….. Need I say more??? Plus you can buy one for $179 US retail and as low as $129 on the web new!
So DS may be fine for little tykes, but give me the larger screen with quality graphics anyday!!!

6But how is this relevant to games? Faster internet for… movies? images? Anyone have a computer with high-speed computer connection these days? I have not experienced ANY latency in a DS WiFi game so far. So far it doesn’t NEED to be faster, it doesn’t need the capacity. And the DS’s screen, both of the btw, incase you didn’t notice, are quite comfortable sizes.
