Pokémon Banned in Kansas Schools
We have all experienced the euphoria that is Pokémon back in the 90’s. All the neighborhood kids would bring their cards to school and trick some kid into trading his 1st Edition Charizard with a Chinese sticker edition of Magikarp. It is still living to this very day, with the upcoming release of Diamond & Pearl to hit stores later this month. There were many accounts of schools banning the card game due to fights breaking out. But, the Kansas thinks that the game is something even more serious.
The Kansas Board of Education has now banned all things related to Pokémon. The reason being that the series promotes the belief of “evolution”. Children will be searched upon entering school grounds to see if they have anything with the Pokemon logo on it. Any items found will be permanently confiscated. By bringing items more than once, you are likely to be suspended or expelled.
A lot of education systems do not approve of Darwin’s Theory of Evolution, but to take a video game this far is clearly out of context. It’s not even like the change in evolutions is gradual, it is near instant and is highly pixelated. Nonetheless, conservative areas are more likely to disapprove of anything that goes against God, even if it is really farteched. Religious protests were also being performed outside of churches, with actual burning of Pokémon merchandise.

This is stupid. They might as well ban all fiction as well since it’s not the bible.

Wow this is going just a bit too far. When I was in middle school they banned Pokemon, and that was about 8 years ago.. That was just because it was a “distraction”.
So I suppose next people will be claiming Pokemon fans are also Satan worshippers..

I’m a Kansas public school student, and NO they didn’t ban Pokemon. I battle my friends at lunch and on the bus in Pokemon D/P. People have Pokemon keychains and t-shirts. Nobody’s gotten in trouble for wearing or discussing Pokemon. Only for playing in class.
