Wii Zapper Listed

April 5th, 2007 Posted in Gear, Rumor, Wii

The Wii Zapper, or Blaster as it may now be called, has been missing in action since E3, where it was listed as a work in progress. It seems only natural that it will surface eventually, and be promoted with some new key titles, but it might be coming earlier than expected after all. With Resident Evil 4 now confirmed for the Summer, and Duck Hunt still hanging on the ESRB list after several months, the Zapper has now been listed at Gamestop. The date for the release is listed as May 1st, and quite likely is just a placeholder date, but it’s possible that we may see the Blaster released this summer. The product is listed for $20 dollars which would fall nicely in line with the current pricing for the Wiimote add-ons.

Looks like you can use two triggers at once. That’s pretty kool.

Yeah the more I read about Vista the more I am starting to think that Monarky may indeed be correct about that OS being a POS and that MS is just out of control with the DRM stuff … Yuck!!! I don’t see myself upgrading to Vista for a long time so I guess I just won’t be able to play the games “as they were meant to be played” … but so what … most games will still look pretty good on XP. I guess I am really concerned about games in the future being like Halo 2 for the PC and only running on Vista based PCs … that is going to suck. But at least Crysis and UT3 will both work with XP and DX9 so I am cool for now anyway.

will these be released in the same colors as the new wiimotes? I wonder when the Wii’s themselves will be released in multiple colors, or maybe that is something you have to have custom done like the xbox?
the clear purple N64’s and a controllers were awesome, as well as the clear green xbox cases I’ve seen.

No Anuban, you will! They just haven’t released that info yet. In the past Developers have always included some OpenGL support in their games whether stated or not. Developers actually won this battle a couple of years ago when MS announced they were freezing OpenGL support in Vista to a watered down v1.4! Many protests later….

They lost as both developers and card makers said no way! So now accordingly, MS must include the full current OpenGL runtime versions have kernel access in Vista (else they would be heading back to court). So with OpenGL 2.2 current and v2.5 you will get full support for all the features Nvidia and ATI are building into their cards n more. They just don’t call them Shader Model 4.0, but they are equivalent!!!

In fact we will find that the newest games will actually run better under WinXP w/ DX9 and OpenGL v2.5 combo APIs, than on Vista with DX10 alone!!! That’s why MS is panicked about Vista not selling and they have to decide for the first time whether they are making an OS for Consummers or BIG Business to control your computer!

One thing for sure, they now expect WinXP to out live Vista and have been working on the next Windows release to replace it, for some time!

Windows XP is not broken now, so if it’s not broken, why attempt to fix it?

I’ll take faster functionality over a pretty face any day!!!

Don’t forget that Game Developers have been using a wait and see approach to Vista. Now that it appears the public is smarter than MS and their DRM partners, they need to sell games! If we don’t buy Vista and use it, they can’t make any money which will force them to comply with our demands for Vista-Free products and games!!!
