Wii Now Part of Fitness Regimen

April 9th, 2007 by Rajiv Ashrafi in Wii

warioware-smooth-moves-wii.pngNow that the system has hit cruise ships, it is only natural for it to make appearances in gyms: Scottish fitness trailer Zander Urguhart has added the Wii to his fitness training regimen.

It isn’t a new idea, however, as a writer from WiiNintendo.net blogged his experience of losing 9 pounds after 6 weeks of playing Wii Sports for half-hour daily. Urquhart got his inspiration from his client’s son: “This five-year-old needed encouragement to do any exercise - but here he was running about for half-an-hour working up a sweat.” It was initially targeted towards kids, but adults weren’t far behind.

Other games have been used in fitness, including Dance Dance Revolution which has been integrated into fitness programs in West Virginia’s public school, as well as Nexgym and 24 Hour Fitness facilities.
