Thompson Blames Virginia Tech Shooting on Video Games

April 16th, 2007 by Gibran Nawaz in News

The Virginia Tech shooting that happened earlier today which took the lives of 33 people already has someone pointing a finger at something besides the gunman. The answer is Jack Thompson, blaming video games. Thompson somehow got onto Fox News and linked the mayhem to video games using illogical nonsense. There is no word on what he exactly said, but knowing his work in the past, it’s not anything new. DigitalBattle has the most sincere condolences for the families of the people who lost their lives.

The public doesn’t even know the killer’s name(s?) yet, how can he pin this on games?

  3. Monarky Says:

Yeah I can see it now, ***Xtra News***! 32 million gamers were convicted today of murdering two chipmonks on a fence post with Wiimots! The atrocity took place despite stricter penalties and laws dictating “no gaming shall take place within 50,000 yds of any schoolyard. Each violator will be sentenced to 200yrs to Life whichever is greater. President Jack Thompson has gathered with supporters for his re-election to mourn the loss….. That’s the News and That’s All Folks! Your Freedom and Civil Rights just died today!!!
….yeah that’s absurd, but with where this world is heading and people like this imbecile, it’s not out of the question!

  4. Monarky Says:

I don’t condone these acts of violence and I too, would like to convey my deepest sympathys to the victims families. But sometimes things just happened that are beyond our control. No matter how many laws and precautions we put in place.

Criminals do not care about these laws, and what will be, will be in spite of them. It merely gives reason to idiots like Thompson to punish the masses by depriving them of the freedoms this country once stood for with dragnet catchall laws!!!

  5. Zac Says:

I knew this would happen as soon as I read about the massacre. Jack, get another hobby.

Sympathy for the victims and their families.

  6. Anuban Says:

Games had nothing to do with this … the person was a loner Sr. at VT … he was an English major and a Korean born resident alien … so far in the news there has been NO mention of any gaming whatsoever. Gaming obviously had nothing to do with this … such a tragedy … so many kids gone for no reason. I feel so bad for the parents … I can’t imagine if one of the victims had been my child.

  10. THUNDERMARE Says:

I was wondering, if a 60 years old guy goes out on rampage with his rifle or whatever, would gaming still considered as a cause??
