Star Wars MMO In Development?

Is BioWare working on a MMOG based on the much-loved Star Wars: KOTOR series? That’s what CVG thinks so. The site cites the rumor section of EGM as listing the game to be in development at the hands of the studio’s online team.
Their report also cites the EGM rumor section as saying that the current PC-exclusive Dragon Age is coming to the PS3 and DS.

Actually I have downloaded Screenshots from the Lucas Arts Site for this MMOG. So BioWare? I don’t think so Lucas Arts has said they own the Star Wars Brand and Trademark. They will not allow it to be published by any one else. They are using the same technologies, they are using in “Star Wars: Force Unleashed”.
Some of those technologies are “DMM” Digital Molecular Matter. Euphoria and it’s Endorphin platform for real individual AI and behaviors. Enlighten shading and light Technology used to enhance these effects to almost real appearance. Lucas Arts will not let this get out of their hands.
Not saying BioWare couldn’t be involved in some aspects of it, but developing and publishing? Not in our lifes!

Actually, the original poster said Bioware would be working on the project if the rumor is true. Bioware is already responsible for the KOTOR series so I don’t know why this is shocking to you. Couple that with the fact that SOE was tapped as the designer/maintainer of the (some would say) failed Star Wars Galaxies. Lucas Arts licenses these companies to produce these games. So I wouldn’t be so quick to say Bioware wouldn’t be developing (SOE and Bioware both have developed Star Wars games) or publishing (SOE certainly has published Galaxies).
I’ve seen lots of rumors fly around about all sorts of things in the gaming industry. Put something as desirable as a good Star Wars MMO for the fans out there, and people may have a tendency to “read” too much into circumstances. Until something official is stated it’s just a rumor. Bioware IS working on a new Sci-Fi MMORPG here in Austin TX…but is it Star Wars? I haven’t yet seen anything definitively saying so.

One can only wish that the new MMO from Bioware would be a new star wars. With what SOE did to SWG now would be a great time to remake a new star wars mmo. No doubts BioWare would make an awesome MMO.
