Final Fantasy Creator Bashes Sony and Microsoft

The creator of the Final Fantasy series, Hironobu Sakaguchi, had some rather harsh things to say about Sony and Microsoft. Speaking to EGM, he said that the reason why he chose not to develop for the PS3 is because “The machine’s architecture is tricky, and I don’t like Ken Kutaragi.” That’s pretty mean to not develop for an entire console due to a single person, which is no longer a part of the company.

He also said that Microsoft needs to change its marketing strategy in Japan. He adds that the Xbox 360 has some good games in its library, but most Japanese gamers do not know what games like Gears of War are all about. He refered to the Windows Vista commercial as proof that Microsoft doesn’t know what they are doing.

On a lighter note, Sakaguchi said that the Wii is intriguing, but currently has no plans to develop for it. The man’s remarks are quite different that that of Square-Enix’s, since the director of Final Fantasy XIII said that the PS3 was an ideal console for the game. But keep in mind that this is the creator of the RPG series that the world has come to love.
