bachRobbie Bach, president of Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division, said in an interview with eWeek that Microsoft expects to see the Xbox division turn a profit in 2008.

“It’s a business that will be profitable next year – we’ll make money next year and that will be the first time, which is pretty exciting. And then the next two or three years are the place where you need to make tracks, and the next two or three years are where you have to make money.”

Bach named three sources that would contribute to a profit; games, Xbox Live and accessories. He also said that Sony is “lagging behind” this generation, while Microsoft and Nintendo are “in the driver seat”, pointing out that Nintendo is doing well because they target the casual market, something that Microsoft will focus more on as well in the future.
