Halo 3 Beta Impressions
May 12th, 2007 by James Hyde in Action, FPS, Multiplayer, Online, Software, Xbox360
The official release of the Halo 3 beta is next Wednesday, but key members of the press were allowed to test out the game yesterday. GameSpot had a Halo 3 beta marathon with a ton of footage and comments, Eurogamer has a preview here, so does EvilAvatar and FiringSquad.
The initial impression is good, however, many note that the game looks a lot like Halo 2, not only the technical side, but artistically as well. The multiplayer is said to have only minor changes, which is understandable, since the previous Halo was one of the best multiplayer games around. It’s of course only a beta, many improvements and tweaks will be made, especially after the public beta is over and Bungie gets a ton of data. The game is scheduled for release later this year.

Just how many tweaks and changes can they do if they want to release it in the fall?

There really isn’t much they can change once it’s reached beta, short of a long delay to revamp everything, beta is basically gameplay/bug testing.
I doubt there will be many visual improvements from beta to final release.
Really though, if the story and gameplay are solid, then slightly lesser graphical quality should be fine.
