Radeon HD 2900 XT Reviews Are In
May 14th, 2007 by James Hyde in Business, Hardware, PC, Software, Technology
After months of delays, AMD finally released the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT graphics card, their high-end DirectX 10 card that supposed to challenge Nvidias 8800 series. But the first batch of reviews are rather disappointing; the card is expensive, runs very hot, and most importantly, it’s beaten by the Nvidia counterpart in almost every test. Ouch. Several reviews have already doomed the the new chip from ATI, comparing it to the failure of Nvidia’s FX5800 years ago. More ouch. For now, Nvidia keeps the performance crown. Voodoo Extreme has a list of reviews here.

While the card isn’t that great, it is really nice that ATI made a DX10 card. Now, all we have to do is wait for the next ATI card, and the Nvidia cards will drop in price by $100 or so. Thanks ATI!
