Folding@home on Xbox 360? Moore Says So

One of PS3’s redeeming points is that it helps you cure cancer through the power of distributed computing. Now it seems Microsoft is willing to join the party, too: Peter Moore has indicated that Microsoft is seriously considering running a research project similar to Folding@Home, which is conducted by Stanford University.
“If we truly believe that we can in some way marshal the resources of a much larger installed base of Xbox 360 owners, with a processor that’s of equal power to the PS3, then you have my commitment that we’ll look at that,” he said to The Mercury News. “And if we believe we can add value to solving a gnarly problem such as medical problems and the health problems that Folding@home seems to be doing, then we’ll certainly look at that very strongly.”
However, it is not yet set in stone whether Microsoft will be implementing any distributed computing projects. If it’s any consolation, you can always download the program for your PC from Folding@home’s project website.
