Kung Fu Hustle Gets Game
SOE has announced that its Taipei-based SOGA studio, in conjunction with Shanghai Northstar is developing a game based on the hit movie Kung Fu Hustle. Although being developed specifically for the Chinese market, the press release indicates that the game may make its way to other regions as well.
Kung Fu Hustle (the game) will feature “compelling” character designs, new technology and trademark humor from the movie. Players will encounter familiar characters from the movie; it will also feature a branching story mode, having players battle their way across China against a host of “wacky” enemies. There will also be a Versus mode, letting eight players go head to head in multiplayer mayhem; gamers will also be able to watch opponents online before challenging them.
The game will be free to play, though players will be able to purchase extra lives and hundreds of virtual items at a nominal fee. No release date was mentioned.
