Nintendo Power on Last Legs

May 15th, 2007 Posted in Nintendo DS, Rumor, Wii

Rumors are floating around that Nintendo Power may be closing its doors as early as September. This rumor comes from IGN who are reporting that massive layoffs from the company after moving the marketing and sales departments from their Redmond head offices. Part of this plan would involve either closing or switching up Nintendo Power.

People close to the publication are even saying to expect to find a new job in September, which would certainly mark a quick ending to the nearly 20 year old publication. This is all rumors and hearsay, some are suggesting that the magazine is merely pushed off to a 3rd company. If a closing does occur, I’m sure there will be some compensation for subscribers of the magazine at some point.

Well, if the rumors are true then I have to say it is sad that such an old magazine will be gone. I do think that Nintendo Power was in its prime during the SNES days. I recently bought a few issues and I wasn’t nearly as impressed as I was with the other magazines out.
