PS3 Beaten By GameBoy Advance In Sales
May 17th, 2007 Posted in Business, Hardware, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360
Here’s a shocker for you: The GameBoy Advance sold more units in April than PlayStation 3. The GBA sold 84,000 units while the PS3 sold only 82,000 units. The latest numbers from the NPD Group show that the DS and Wii are still the best selling consoles, with 471,000 and 360,000 units sold, respectively. The PS2 came in third with 194,000 units sold, followed by the PSP at 183,00 and the Xbox 360 at 171,000 units sold. The PS3 was beaten by pretty much every console besides the GameCube, and it’s hard to see how things can get worse for Sony’s new console these days.

Well, the fact is the gba has an amazing library of games and it is cheap. The PS3 is expensive and has no decent library yet. I honestly think that given a bit more time people will start to flock to the PS3, especially with the new home service they are offering online. Of course a price drop wouldn’t hurt either

Quite a bit of time. And if Sony doesn’t reach a critical mass in PS3 strength by September twenty fifth, there isn’t a hope in heck that they’ll make it beyond a distant third.

don’t think things will get much better for Sony… PS2 is their only hope… even if PS3 comes out with decent Software, the other platforms will have very decent games too. i think everyone has adopted the Wii and Ds as their most wanted, with all the goodies coming soon and BIG surprises next Week, i can’t imagine Ps3 truning things around… lets wait and see..

Man, honestly if u look forward to a lifestly on the ps3 called ” home ” ur wasting ur life. Playing like u own a house, or an apartment actually shelling out real live money for fake stuff is retarded in my opinion. Its a gaming machine, not the real world. Socialize with real life people instead of ppl online like that.

Think back 8 months or so, all the PS3 flamers said that PS3 would kill all compitition, and Wii would be the end of “kidtendo”. Also, after it released, most people, even industry experts said that after 6 months the PS3 would start to see a growth in sales. I agree with you Zac. ROFL. I laugh hardest into the face of all the b….ing Sony fanboys who through personal insults tried to convince everybody that the Wii, and DS as well, was only gimmicks, and that people would grow tired of them after a couple of months at the most. I wonder if they regret some of the things they said. Anyway, for the first time since the mid ninetees, I dont have to defend that I’m mostly playing on Nintendo platforms
