This LA Times report states that Michael Bay, the famed director behind Armageddon, as well as the upcoming Transformers movie, is getting into the game development business. According to the article, his company Digital Domain Inc is working on a new first-person shooter game that has a budget of about $25 million.

“I make world-class images,” Bay said. “Why not put those images into a game?”

The article states that Digital Domain is going through a massive overhauling where it will see new hires, many of them to be video-game programmers. The company is building its own games unit and also plans to acquire one or more game studios this year.

Though no other details on the game was revealed, it was stated that the company had found much success in its recent Gears of War TV spot, which was created using the game’s engine itself.
