According to ex-DICE employees, there are no more patches planned for the bug-filled multiplayer shooter Battlefield 2. The former DICE members, who now formed their own studio, said via a forum release that patch 1.4 (released last November)was the last BF2 patch, and that all forces at DICE are focused on Battlefield 2142, which is, unfortunately, just as bug filled as its predecessor.
EA and DICE hasn’t mentioned anything about a patch ever since the last one, over six months ago. And they will probably never reveal that no further patches are planned, since that’ll take away the last hope BF2 players have. Since there most likely won’t be an announcement, this will technically remain a rumor forever, just as BF2 will technically remain a bug filled game.

2Wow, that is disappointing. I honestly don’t find BF 2142 as much fun. Just abandoning old customers is incredibly rude, especially with the bugs.

3The 1.41 patch was the last patch, and even with all the bugs it has I’ve seen over 5,000 servers online for Battlefield 2. Over half of them were populated, some were even filled with a full 64 players. Hopefully this is just a rumor and EA isn’t stupid enough to end all support for BF2 after just 2 years. They still have a huge Battlefield fanbase, and in my opinion Battlefield 2142 is just a crappy mod with different skins and some new vehicles. It’s even more bug ridden with the same game engine as BF2. Still, they pump out more patches for it. If they put a Titan-like mode in BF2 there would probably be thousands more players flocking to it and having fun destroying things.

4I agree that BF2 is a lot better than BF2142, BF2142 just has optimized engine and new features, stuff that BF2 should have had in the first place.
But there are a lot of cool mods coming, Desert Conflict and Project Reality Mod as well, both run better than BF2.

5I hate EA with a fucking passion. I have to put up with their crap when I buy madden and NCAA. Don’t get me wrong they have awesome idea’s for game’s but they ruin it from fricking bugs. Battlefield was my favorite game of all time for a MP game. The stupid game was perfect when it came out and they modded and screwed it up and just abandoned me and my fellow gamers for a nother piece of the pie?
I thought dice kicked ea out and were gonna do the patches and just wanna focus on 2142? okay, 2142 i would recieve what? 300-500 servers barely anyone in them. Where with bf2 i had around 4-5k mostly with ppl in them. On xfire bf2 is in the top 3 games most player falling so short to css.
Im so angry at EA, i’ll never ever ever ever ever buy another game from them. I’ll download, burn their games before I ever buy another. They ripped me off from 2 maddens, 1 NCAA, Bf2142… was so bugged to hell it was worse than the beta and I tried it on the 10th patch it was still buggy, bf2 was fine when it came out.. all they needed to do with the ranking system fix, they rip ppl on xbox live cuz they can. How can you charge someone for jerseys? cars? and maps? this is suppose to be free.
I mean someone back me up here, they take 60 dollars from u, probably more cuz u pay taxes and I dont. I mean come on! As you can tell im so pissed off at dice and EA, I feel we re used to get robbed by them. Still makes me laugh they can leave loyal fans to the mudd..
Im sorry but ever giant has their fall, Look at ROME for a prime example. EA doesnt realize they re pissing all their fans off and when more competition comes out we are most likely gonna choose that product instead of a buggy POS EA just leaves us.

6What can we do if they stop it ? we wont stop playing it will we ?
Personally i am happy with 1.41 its 5000 times better than 1.3.
I would be perfectly happy with another few maps or something or make the ranks enabled over the mods..
Shame either will not happen thou..

7There’s a big difference between not releasing patches and not supporting a product!
Did anyone get a StarCraft patch 2 years after release of the original game (not including expansion packs)?
Enough said.
I already had a distinct feeling that patch 1.41 would probably be the last.
I’m fine with the game as it is now. I’ve learned to live with the many map glitches: I just make sure that I play on servers where admins diligently remove cheaters, exploiters and glitchers.
Although I have 2142 in the cupboard, I’ll be playing BF2 for years to come!

8EA strategy:
10 Throw a Cool nice (bug filled) Game on market
20 Make some little patches for uninteresting bugs
30 Make 1 or 2 new maps, other Playermodels and sell it as “New Mod” for Money (?????)
40 Make a new Mod and sell it for FULL Prize (?????)
50 Stop updates for a Bug-Game and start planning a New Bug-Game to sell
60 GOTO 10

101.41 is pretty good compared to 1.3 I agree. There will always be bugs no matter how of then they bring out a new patch. Its neverending! I had a good feeling 1.41 would be the last as 1.41 was actually a decent release. Hackers will NEVER be completely stopped. They bring out an update and an hour later a new hack is out again anyways so updating to stop hackers doesnt make sense anyways.

111.41 was just a hotfix for 1.4, that’s why there was no incremental update, only the full patch, from vanilla to 1.41

14its like with all games from ea, best example are the need for speed series, they let you play them online for like 2 years then they just want your to buy the new version. there is no way that you can get support for a game that is older than 2 years at ea. the only game´s they are going to continue uppdating are the sims 2.

17“DICE Live team” has consistently given false information on support/patches etc., tons of broken promises, and some times straight out lies.
And they’ll keep saying that “BF2 is supported” years from now, where there are only a few people playing the game.

19The problem with calling this a rumor is that dice themselves gave an interview a while back. In it they said they know about the jet/plane bug and many other issues, but they can’t fix them. So far there support for BF2 has proven itself and doesn’t require dice or ea to state if it’s true or not as their actions speak louder than their words. And there support for 2142 is pretty much following the same path as BF2 did (Patch to add bugs and change gameplay in the wrong areas).

27dice/ea’s battlefield series for xbox360 (modern combat)(bad company) are the worst games i’ve ever played online or off(esp online) i cant understand why the franchise is so popular i wish i hadent wasted my money on either game i try to like them and play through them since i paid for them but there so filled with suck that its hard to not puke while aiming down my sights bad companys single player isnt too awful but thats not saying much they should just stop making games call of duty4 anyone?
