The latest edition of blame-the-game comes from UK where a 20-year old, SMOKING POT, threw himself onto cars and attacked police officers after playing Saint’s Row, a GTA clone for Xbox 360. Here’s a bit from Daily Mail’s report:
In the computer game, there are instances where you play a person who jumps on top of cars and tries to steal them by pulling the drivers out of them. There’s obviously a shocking similarity between the game and the way Anderson behaved, jumping on cars and trying the door handles. His actions were one and the same as those in the video game.
Yes, fine, maybe he was emulating the game’s things since he was stuffed up on drugs. But I don’t get how cutting yourself is influenced by Saint’s Row:
Police today said that Anderson’s extreme behaviour bore “shocking similarity” to the video game and warned youngsters about the dangers of smoking cannabis…After playing Saints Row on his Xbox 360 console he fetched a 12inch carving knife from the kitchen, slit both his wrists and attempted to stab himself through the chest.
Really, what next? Playing Tetris makes you want to shape yourself like those falling blocks?

1You can’t say that the game was completely UNinfluential, yet the drug influence cannot be compared and overshadowed by a media. It could have easily been a movie, even a song, that this guy could choose as inspiration for acts like this.

2Pot doesent make you want to do stuff like that, video games might though, still, neither the pot nor the game is responsible for the actions, the mother f*cker who actually did it is.
