EA/DICE Respond To DigitalBattle’s “Rumor”

The news sent tiny shockwaves through the community, tiny enough that EA and DICE for the first time responded to a “rumor”.
I can with good conscious say that we are still supporting Battlefield 2 and no other decision has been made. Dice Live has been reached by rumors saying otherwise, although under normal circumstances we do not comment on rumors this has caused unnecessary concern for our Battlefield players.
According to EA/DICE, they are supporting BF2, “but no other decisions have been made”. Decisions about supporting the game with new updates, perhaps? There’s no denial that a confirmation of this “rumor” would instantly result in a great portion of players quitting for good. The big issue for EA isn’t the community (somehow I feel it never was), but the ranked server providers, who pay EA for a ranked server certificate, pay quite a lot as well. If the players leave, they certainly would too.
Other than that, it’s obvious that the community never trusted the developer, just read the replies at TotalBF2 (or any other BF2 forum for that matter). Until they release a new patch, or at least announce something, there’s no hope in BF2, there hasn’t been for a long time.

from my point of view, i think it’ll be for the best if there aren’t any new patches. I’ve played both bf2 n bf2142 and from experience with these two games, i can say that with every new patch that come out with, it makes the game even worse. Use to love 2142 before this last patch and after that….i basically quit because game has be ****** to the point where it just not fun…well for me atleast.

I love u money! bf2 was perfect besides the fucked up ranking system and now look ;-(. Now the game is all out of whack.

The ranking system and the awards was what kept so many playing for so long, despite the flaws of the game. The ranking system was the genius part of BF2.

Well james, the ranking system was really outta whack when it was first formed…. You need 30k to be a corpal, and 70k to be sergeant. Now, that ficked the gameplay was fine. Noobs shouldnt punish, it should only be -1. C4,nades,ff on the mores and at at shouldve stayed cuz it changed the course of the entire game.

Sure, the punish system is useless, but you can’t deny the fact that so many (including myself) have played hundreds of hours for the stats, awards, and rankings. EA completely failed to support the existing community, and moved on to 2142.

Oh im not denying shit, EA to me is evil and only worried about is the money aspect. Bf2 is the top 3rd most played game and bf2142 doesnt even rank in the top 10 and they care more bout the 2142 game. Yeah I loved the ranking system. I wish cs did it nationally, I just think its awesome to see what ur stats r.

battlefield 2142 isn’t that bad. i was appalled at first but then i realize even though it wasn’t the same game-play, it was just as good or even better
