Nintendo of America’s VP of Marketing George Harrison says that Nintendo predicts to sell 35 million Wiis in the U.S. by 2012. In comparison, Sony has sold 38 million PS2s in U.S. since it launched in 2000. Nintendo has so far sold 2.5 million Wii consoles in the U.S., Sony has sold 1.3 million consoles, while Xbox 360 has sold 5,4 million copies.
Worldwide Wii sales are at 7.2 million, Xbox 360 at 9.6 million, and the PS3 at 3.1 million. Nintendo has seen Wii shortages ever since the launch six months ago, and despite shipping over a million consoles a month, there are still shortages in all regions.
