SCEA Questions Microsoft’s Claims

Following Peter Moore’s recent comments on PS3’s Folding@Home initiative and Microsoft’s “willingness” to repeat it on the Xbox 360, SCEA boss Jack Tretton shot off some words at his rival, saying that he would be “very disappointed” if the company is just seeking good PR.
Speaking to GamePro, Tretton had this to say for Microsoft’s intentions: “Let’s face it, if your motivation is for PR, to me, that’s a little shallow. We go out of our way, correctly so, to make sure that we don’t try to sell PS3s on Folding@ Home.”
He also expressed disbelief at Moore’s statement that the Xbox 360’s processor is as fast as the PS3’s. “I would guess that the medical community would take help from anywhere they could get it, but the commentary that I heard is that Stanford isn’t sure that [the Xbox 360's processing abilities] would help them very much. Which is odd to me because if it helped at all, it seems like they would welcome it with open arms.”
He finally states that it’d not be a “cool game to play” if Microsoft thought that that’s Sony’s motivation, and that he’d again be “very disappointed” if the company tried “suck off some of the goodwill” that Sony is doing.

That’s desperately vague.

So he wants to make MS look bad for helping the same charity. It’s a charity. It’s a cause. PR or none, he shouldn’t try to make it look like MS the bad one here.
