Harmonix Makes Donation to Fansite
In a move that is sure to please even the most cynical of fans, Harmonix president Alex Rigopulos has donated $2,000 to Scorehero.com, a fan-made website dedicated to tracking scores of various players of the Guitar Hero games.
The site allowed users to upload and compare scores from the game, and with Guitar Hero III and Rock Band approaching, the site’s owner had set a target of $10,000 to be raised for hosting and other related costs.
“Hey everyone, I just kicked in a big donation on behalf of the whole crew here at Harmonix. You guys are awesome!” Rigpolus posted on the website’s message board. The $10,000 target had been reached as of writing this, with the site owner in the process of upgrading to better services.
Interestingly, Guitar Hero III is not being developed by Harmonix themselves. After Activision took control of the franchise, they gave the development duties to Neversoft, the studio behind the venerable Tony Hawk series. Harmonix is currently working on Rock Band at EA.
