Nintendo has announced that in just over six months since the release of the Wii, they have sold a whopping 4.7 million Virtual Console games, that’s 1000 games sold every hour. The four best selling games are all Mario games, with Zelda Ocarina of Time getting the fifth spot.
With Wii sales at 7.7 million units, 0.6 Virtual Console games are sold for every Wii console. Not bad, considering that only half of Wii consoles are online (rumored). Hopefully this will encourage Nintendo to release more high profile games, especially N64 classics. Of the 94 titles available on Virtual Console, only 4 are N64 games.
